This server is called Malgazars Lair and it is a semi vanilla Java server. When I joined it felt like everyone already knew each other because the community is really tight and nice. People talk a lot and help each other and it feels chill to just hang out and play.
The server is mostly vanilla so the game feels like normal Minecraft. It runs on the latest Java version so it feels updated and smooth. There is no crazy stuff or confusing menus. You just join and start surviving and building with other players.
The main thing about this server is the community. They want nice and positive people who want to play together and have fun. If you are looking for a solid server that feels friendly and not toxic this one fits that really well.
