The server uses claims for grief protection and CoreProtect is there to help protect the server too. Grief is allowed if an area is not claimed so you still need to be smart about where you build.
The Overworld and Nether are long term and will never reset. There is no set world border and you spawn randomly within the first 40k blocks. You can use random teleport to get farther out then set a home.
