You spawn inside a quarantined zone called Alpigus and everyone is stuck inside for the first 7 days. When the wall power fails on March 28th at 1PM EST the wall opens and the Nether unlocks and the End becomes reachable.
There is also a grid failure protocol where a nuke drops inside the wall on March 30th at 10AM EST. If you do not escape before that then you are basically done.
It is not hardcore. There is a land claim system that stops griefing and PVP. It does not stop stealing. You can also toggle PVP inside claims with claim commands.

I found a survival SMP where the world starts as basically nothing. You spawn on one chunk floating over the void and the rest does not exist for you until you claim it.
You earn money and upgrade your territory chunk by chunk in a spiral. You can grow it up to a 5×5 area and your claimed land is protected so it feels safe to build and farm.
Outside your border is wilderness that is unprotected and full of stuff to find like villages rare biomes and fresh resources. Other players can be out there too so it can get risky.
The whole progression is built around expanding to 25 chunks then unlocking the Nether then pushing to a stronghold then killing the Ender Dragon and going for End cities and Elytra.
It is Java 1.21.11 hosted in EU Frankfurt. Public chat is English and they say moderation is active. This is a beta that runs until May 16 2026 and progress wipes at launch so it starts clean.
