The Tavern SMP is a near vanilla survival server on version 1.21.11. It feels like normal Minecraft but with some quality of life and cosmetic plugins to make stuff smoother.
It runs on a greylist so anyone can join. You just link your discord account in game and it is automated so there is no long whitelist wait.
Players use a nether roof travel hub and there is no world border so far. TNT dupers are allowed and redstone contraptions are fine as long as they do not cause noticeable lag.
The server does not do forced resets. World changes and resets only happen if the community votes for it. There are occasional community projects and events and the overall vibe is laid back and relaxed.
It also has proximity voice chat plus a live web map and a statistics site. Extra fun features include mob head drops from charged creepers plus invisible item frames using shears and moveable armor stands by naming a book to statues. Client side mods like performance mods minimaps waypoints and building helpers like litematica are allowed but no printer.

LuckyGem SMP is a fresh semi vanilla survival server where you can play on Java or Bedrock together. It feels like a new start with a fully custom spawn and lots of places meant for players to use like a shopping district and a nether hub.
The server runs weekly competitions so there is always something to do. The challenges can be stuff like building mining redstone and PvE. Winners get big prizes with rare items and server perks plus bragging rights.
There are custom features too like over 2000 custom advancements and cosmetic datapacks so your character and builds can look more unique. There are also staff collectibles you can gather and if you collect five you can move a spawner to your base.
The economy is player driven and diamond based so trading and running a shop is a big part of the server. The community looks active with a Discord for updates and finding people to play with and staff that listens to feedback.

Xapros SMP is a chill vanilla Minecraft server made for adults and it runs on 1.21.1. The community is 18+ and there are players from lots of regions so it is common to find someone online.
The world is meant to be long term since it started in January 2025 and they say they will not reset. It also has no world borders so you can go as far out as you want for a base or a giant project.
There are no land claims here and the server tries to stay vanilla. Griefing and stealing are not allowed though and players can use a ledger inspect command to check what happened.
Spawn is built up and there is a diamond based shopping district for player trading. Travel is faster with Nether ice boat highways and there is also a Bluemap so you can look at the world. The server runs on Fabric not Spigot or Paper so redstone and farms should behave like singleplayer and it also includes BlazeandCave advancements for extra goals.
It is free to play and there are no ranks or donation perks.

I found a semi vanilla PvP server that is inspired by StrengthSMP. The main idea is you get stronger when you kill players so fights keep getting more intense.
If you drop all the way to minus 10 strength you get eliminated and banned. There is also a revive beacon so other players can bring you back and unban you.
It has a custom spawn and a custom nether portal area. The worldborder is huge at 100k by 100k so there is lots of room to play.
The server is planned to launch on 30.01 if enough players join. The host setup says 24GB RAM and an 8 core 16 thread CPU at 4.60 GHz. They also want to run fun events once the server has enough people.
