BackToBlocks is a mostly vanilla survival server that tries to keep the classic Minecraft feel. It adds a few helpful things so getting around is not annoying like /sethome and /spawn plus /tpa.
The server has a community made spawn and the staff runs events sometimes. There is also a decorated Nether Hub and a decorated End Island plus a player run Shopping District.
It is not pay to win and it avoids goofy plugin spam. PvP and raiding are allowed but it is not a PvP focused place and griefing is not allowed. There is an item economy and you can even use /itemflip to gamble items just for fun and you can toggle phantoms too.
It supports both Java and Bedrock players since there is a Bedrock port listed.

I found Xapros SMP and it is a chill vanilla survival server for adults only. The community is 18 plus and it has players from lots of time zones so you can usually find someone online.
This server is meant for long term play and it started in January 2025 with no plans to reset. It is good if you want to do a big megabuild and keep it forever.
It stays close to normal Minecraft because it runs on Fabric instead of Spigot or Paper so redstone and farms act like singleplayer. The server also has BlazeandCave advancements for extra goals.
There are no land claims but griefing and stealing are not allowed and there is a way to inspect logs if something goes missing. You can shop at spawn using diamonds and travel fast with Nether ice boat highways. There is also a world map you can view and there are no world borders so you can live very far away if you want.

Ancient Echoes is a whitelist SMP for people 18 and up and it is all about a world that feels alive. Players build together and hang out in voice and they run real community events instead of just grinding loot.
The server is on Minecraft 1.21.11 and they just did a huge push where the End island got fully cleared. Now everyone is starting a big gothic End city build on that empty space.
There are spawn decorations for Lunar New Year and it ends with a community event and a fireworks show. They also have a newer Nether highway and a portal network to make traveling easier.
They use a datapack setup like Hermitcraft for custom textures and models. You can see things like plushies hats pokemon figurines and trading cards as they add more.
They are super strict about being fair. No pay to win no paid cosmetics no donor perks and no special rewards. Event fights and events do not give out items that you cannot get in survival.
