This is a modded roleplay SMP called TSMP 4 and it has a magic school style world with a big story.
The year is 1284 and you and your friends just finished your time at the Arcane Institute of Elyndor. That is an old magic school in the Smaragdus islands which is also called the land of emerald. When you leave the school weird stuff starts happening everywhere.
There are strange entities from other dimensions talking about plagues and wars. Forbidden spells are loose around the islands and earthquakes keep changing the land. It feels like there is no safe place in Smaragdus but you still want to see if there is any hope.
On this server you investigate fight build and even destroy things to figure out the history behind TSMP 4. It is a roleplay server with a focus on story so you can act like your character and do magic style adventures with other people.
The server has keep inventory on so dying is not super punishing. It is a casual SMP where friends hang out together. There are zero formal rules about being super serious so the vibe is relaxed and friendly.

This server is called CollideCraft Time Zero and it feels like you crash into some broken world where nothing is really safe. The whole dimension feels unstable and weird and time does not feel normal at all.
It is a semi vanilla SMP where you actually have to earn survival instead of getting it easy. There is lifesteal so every fight matters a lot because hearts are on the line. People can pick plugins so the server changes with what the players want.
There are factions and alliances so you can team up or just decide to betray others if you want to play that way. There is prox chat so you can hear people that are close and it makes everything feel more intense when you run into someone in the wild.
The server runs frequent events and the owner says there is way more hidden under the surface that you have to discover yourself. It is not really a peaceful starter world. It is more like a place where you join early and fight for your spot and try to keep it.

H1S Realm is a vanilla style Java SMP that feels really chill but also kind of spooky in a fun way. It is a trust based server so people are expected to be honest and not ruin stuff.
The world is pretty new and only about one and a half months old. There is a server story that drops from time to time so it is not just plain survival. There is a lot of lore about Him and something called The Dystbrinist but you have to join to see what that means.
The community is small and tight knit and it is still growing. The rules are not super strict and you can do most things you want as long as you are not just causing trouble. There is a minimum age of 15 years old so the players are a bit older.
The server is whitelist only so you have to apply first and answer honestly. There is Simple Voice Chat and a few Vanilla Tweaks so it still feels very close to normal Minecraft. There is no teleport and no warp plugins so traveling is all done the regular way.
They say there are no plans to reset the world so you can build long term stuff. The server uses CoreProtect so griefing can be rolled back and your builds are safer. There is also a custom Herobrine from The Fog and some scripts but he is non destructive so he just adds creepy fun instead of blowing everything up.
