ArcticMC is a new survival server that started just a couple days ago. It is an SMP that mixes Towny with factions so you can build a town make alliances or take land for yourself.
PVP matters here but it is meant to be honorable. They have an honor system and it is explained in their rules.
The server uses McMMO skills so you level up as you play and get special abilities when you reach certain levels. It also has custom items including furniture and they plan to limit furniture per chunk to help with lag.
World generation is Tectonic style so the terrain looks more realistic with big mountains and valleys. The community is calm friendly and more about relaxing while you explore build and grind.
