The Ancient World is a survival world that has been around for a very long time and it is made for narrative driven roleplay.
It started way back in July 2010 on Minecraft Alpha v1.0.4 as a single player survival world then it became a private server in early 2011 and later turned public that same year.
The big thing is there are no resets and the world has been kept going for 15 years so everything feels like real server history. It is on Minecraft 1.21.11 and it uses a whitelist so you have to apply to join.

GOOMB SMP is a vanilla survival server that is on Season 2 and it is still active. The world got reset about three months ago and lots of players have already started bases in an amplified world with wild terrain.
At first the world border made people live close together but the border has expanded so there is way more room now. Players are building new projects and planning bigger stuff for this season.
The End is open and the server has had events like an egg hunt where players can meet up and interact. The community stays busy with shop ads trades screenshots and lots of people hanging out in voice chat.

Viking Factions OG is a classic factions server that tries to feel like the old days but it runs on Minecraft 1.21.4+ with 1.8 style combat. It is all about skill based 1.8 pot PvP and real fights where you have to be good and not just rich.
It just wiped and opens today at 6 PM EST so it is a good time to start fresh and grab land early. The server says it is not pay to win and it keeps ranks cheap with cosmetic only perks.
Raiding is a big deal here with complex style cannoning and even a cannon schematics creator in game so you can design and build without client mods. There is also a bunkers world that is made for base raiding.
For extra stuff to do there are mini games custom dungeons with unique loot and ranked duels with ELO. KoTH happens twice daily and there is a sign shop for in game items. TrootheSMP is a friendly cross play survival SMP that tries to keep the game feeling like real survival. It runs in seasons and Season 5 is going right now. The seasons are meant to last long enough so people can actually build big stuff and make progress and set up shops without constant wipes.
The server is not 18 plus but it still expects players to act mature and respectful. It has a few small enhancements that are picked to help with quality of life and building while still keeping the core experience.
You can link your account with Discord and get updates and use community tools. The economy is item based and shops are physical and player run. There are land claims so building is safer and there are QoL changes like armored elytra and villager leashes. Simple Voice Chat is supported too.
