Posalon is a semi vanilla SMP that is all about building lore and history. Everything players do becomes part of the story of the world.
On this server you can join nations and get into politics or even try to start your own nation. There is a movecraft plugin so people design planes tanks and ships and then use them in real battles. There is also a brewery plugin so you can just chill as a bartender if that is your thing.
You can make your own religion and try to spread it across the server. The staff and community write down what happens so your actions can be saved in a wiki.
This is not just a normal server. It feels more like a big worldbuilding project. The history is made by the whole community and every player can write their own chapter.

Creative Central is a work in progress Minecraft network that is built around almost ten years of lore and worldbuilding. It feels like everything connects into one big canon story that different people helped create.
There are two main game modes right now. On CC Plots you get a huge 512 by 512 creative plot with free WorldEdit so you can really go wild with big builds. You can also use headdatabase and armorstand tools without paying extra so you can decorate your builds and make custom armor stands and details.
On CC Earth you play on a 1 to 500 scale Earth map using Towny. You can start a town claim land and use the server economy to keep your settlement running. You can form nations with friends or new players and team up under the same banner to grow your territory. PvP does exist in some parts of the world but it is not the main thing and does not get in the way of normal gameplay or progression.
The server is strictly not pay to win and does not push microtransactions. There is only a single sponsor rank that costs ten dollars and it just gives cosmetic perks to people who want to support the server.
Creative Central is also part of something called Project Everything which is a group of different worldbuilding stories and lore collections that all fit into the same canon universe.

This is a Jujutsu Kaisen style Minecraft server called Kokushin. The whole world is about sorcerers and curses and only the strongest really matter. Everything feels very hardcore and it uses a perma death system so if you die it actually means something.
You can try to be a lone wolf and master jujutsu by yourself and become super strong. Or you can look for power through other players and build an empire over jujutsu society. There are clans with rank systems but right now the server is only accepting rogues so you can not join a sorcerer clan. You have to be a rogue or join a rogue organization.
The server has wars and claims and rogues and different events. There are bounties and bosses. You can fight on a tower for really good rewards and fight bosses to get their skills. There are raids you can conquer and a lot of the gameplay connects to the lore.
The whole server is very lore based and not limited to only JJK even if that is the base of it. It feels like a serious world where your choices and your deaths actually matter and where power and story are a big deal.

Headrest SMP is a whitelisted survival world that is running a testing season right now. I saw it and it really feels like a mix of lore roleplay and pvp battles.
Everyone plays on an smp style server and the main focus is telling stories with your character. There is also pvp like lifesteal servers so it is not just peaceful building all the time. People will fight and make alliances and betray each other while the lore grows.
They are aiming for around 30 members so it is not super crowded. The minimum age to apply is 16 plus so the players are a bit older and they want people who are actually dedicated to play and not just join for one day.

This server is a nation called Grand Empire and it is based on feudal Japan. It is on an SMP called Ruby and it does not use mods.
The Empire is all about discipline and hierarchy and imperial order. You join one of the legions and serve in your own way. There are Imperial Guards that protect the Emperor and keep the laws. There is the Royal Legion that is like the elite force. There is the Iron Legion that is the main army of the Empire.
The legions are all recruiting right now because this nation is new. That means it is easier to get in and rank up. If you join early you have a better chance to rise through the ranks and earn respect.
You can build bases and castles and settlements that match the style of your legion. There is a rank structure so you can progress by helping the Empire. Players do missions and ceremonies and live in an organized Empire style.

This server is called Nation States and it is a semi vanilla world built around towny claiming.
The whole point is to make nations and build them up. People are expected to do diplomacy trade and war. The server wants players talking and working together or fighting each other and not just hiding alone.
The theme is early antiquity so it feels like playing in an ancient world. There is a custom map that is around 5k by 5k so it is big but not too huge.
The server has a special spirit that everyone has to follow. That means you should like fun roleplay lore and conflicts. If you just try to ruin that or ignore it you can be removed to protect the experience for other players.

Ballistic SMP is a Minecraft server that is all about intense pvp and mythic gear. The whole server feels like a big arena where the map is tight and every base location really matters.
The coolest thing here is the four mythic weapons and one mythic armor set. Each one is tied to an elemental guardian like air water fire and death. These items are rare and you do not just buy them. You have to earn them through quests events and combat so they actually feel special.
Pvp is the main focus so fights are based on skill timing and strategy instead of crazy broken gear. You can duel alone or fight in teams and the world border is 3000 by 3000 so players run into each other a lot.
The server has strong rules against griefing and stealing. Your base and stuff are protected so people can battle hard without the world turning into total chaos.
There is also a lot of lore. The story is about the four guardians and you learn more through quests hidden relics and special events. Some events drop loot from the sky and cause sudden fights. Other events are about the story or about getting fragments of the mythic weapons and armor.
The server opens on December 19th so the world and its story are just getting started.

This is a hardcore modded SMP where you only get one life. If you die you are banned forever so every fight actually matters. It feels really intense and kind of scary in a fun way.
The server uses Origins so everyone has a special playstyle with real strengths and weaknesses. Combat is very medieval with different weapons like spears and warhammers and they all work differently. There are a ton of custom bows too so ranged players can do ambushes and sniping.
There is proximity voice chat so you hear people only when they are close. That makes alliances betrayals and surprise attacks feel way more real. The world has lots of new structures ruins dungeons and landscapes to explore and there is custom lore hidden in books called field logs. You can follow clues to find secret ruins and treasure.
The server is hardcore survival with no hub no kits and no hand holding. It is whitelist only and runs Java with Fabric mods. Players are expected to make their own kingdoms hide their bases hunt artifacts track enemies and fight over the last lives. If you like modded PvP tough survival lore and politics this server is built for that style of play.
