I found a normal survival SMP that keeps things mostly vanilla. The big twist is it uses a Ranked SMP plugin so you can play with that competitive vibe.
There are no safe zones and grief is allowed. You can basically do whatever you want as long as you follow the rules.
Also there can only be one mace on the whole server so people are going to fight over it and hunt for it hard.
