I found a true vanilla hardcore SMP with a smaller community and it sticks to the game how it was meant to be. There are no ranks and no pay to win and no extra commands outside the normal vanilla ones.
When you spawn you get a few starter items plus invis and regen so you can get away from the spawn area. If you die you get banned for a temporary time and if you run out of lives you are banned for the rest of the season so you have to play careful.
The server is online 24 7 and it has a massive 80k by 80k world border so there is still lots of space and loot to find. It also supports multiple versions and has crossplay so different players can join.

I found a new pure survival server called DogeM and it is for Java players. It is a fresh start style server and it stays completely vanilla.
The vibe is chill friendly and also semi anarchy. People team up and you can fight and raid bases. PvP is open and even crystal fights are allowed if you grind for it. Tripwire dupers are allowed too so people can trade and get into battles.
It is locally hosted in NA and it gets really active on weekends. The world border is 50k so you have lots of space and you can still run into bases to mess with or set traps. There is a strict moderation team so players using unfair modded clients get caught fast. Admins are usually on every day.
They say there are around 30 to 50 players right now and they want more people to join and bring friends.

Yukraft is a relaxed semi vanilla Minecraft server with a cozy community feel. It has a huge 50k by 50k world so you can roam far and still find a nice place to settle.
You can use sethome so getting back to your base is easy. When you want to trade you can head to the shops warp to buy stuff or sell your own goods. Players can also make their own warps so it feels social and you can check out other builds.
There is AutoTreeChop you can toggle for faster tree chopping. There are Moxie points plus top voter leaderboards and your rank and permissions can reflect how active you are. If you want extra safety for a build or town you can get Homestead or Town permits. Death Chest helps if you die since your items get stored in a locked chest until you return and CoreProtect helps with grief and theft tracking.

This is a small long term Minecraft world that is meant to last. The map has been running for about 4 months and the plan is to keep it around for years.
It is semi vanilla with a few convenience features like tpa and homes. Homes are earned through voting so it stays kinda fair. Dupes are patched and there is anticheat that blocks non vanilla movement and x ray.
The world border is huge at 1m by 1m so there is a lot of space to explore and build. Player count is usually low with around 0 to 9 online so it feels calm.
It runs on dedicated hardware in Germany and it holds around 20 tps most of the time. It supports both Java and Bedrock so more people can join.

I found NostalgiaCraft and it is a vanilla style SMP that is trying to feel like old Minecraft with friends. It keeps stuff simple so it does not feel bloated and it focuses on normal survival and building.
Griefing is against the rules and the server has a protected spawn plus rollback help if something goes wrong. The world has been running since 2020 and they say there are no resets so builds can stay for the long run.
The map is huge with a 300k by 300k border and it is on dedicated hardware with the goal of staying at 20 TPS. There is a vanilla economy vibe with player shops and trading and no extra currency plugins.
It also has a graylist system so you can join and play right away. Spawn is protected in a 1400 by 1400 area for trusted members and outside of that is survival. It supports Bedrock too and it just updated to 1.21.11.

sVanilla Survival is a survival SMP that focuses on sword based PvP and raiding. It is made for Java and Bedrock players using Geyser. The server is USA East.
The whole point here is fair play with no cheating. You can fight raid grief team up or betray people. There are no land claims so you have to be smart and strong if you want to last.
Crystals and anchors are disabled so the melee style matters more. They also patched breach swapping. There is combat tagging with rules like no elytra in combat and there is an 8 second totem cooldown.
It stays close to vanilla but has a few helpful commands like teleport ignore and sethome. There is no economy plugin so the economy is just bartering with other players.
The world is huge with a 300k overworld and 100k nether and end. The map is permanent and will never reset. TNT duping with pistons and slime is allowed so farms and big machines are possible.

I found a new lifesteal SMP that is trying to keep things fair. The plugins are tested and the staff is not sitting around with commands all the time so it feels less like admin abuse. They still will ban players if needed.
The vibe is mostly do what you want in PvP. Stuff people call dumb like certain weapons and combos are allowed. There is a rule about not just camping spawn to farm new players and there will be consequences for that.
Rules are simple like no cheating or exploits or freecam. No duping and no combat logging. Elytra pearls and stasis are allowed in fights. Also no naked killing since that makes fights super unfair. No loopholes either.
The world border is 20k by 20k blocks so there is lots of room to roam. It might feel empty at first since it is new but they want people to bring friends and help it grow.
