This server is called Spells Gears n Bells and it is all about magitech and steampunk style roleplay with lots of fantasy and adventure. It uses mods like Create and Iron Spells and other dungeon and exploration stuff so the world feels big and mysterious.
You get to make your own character and there are a bunch of tools to make them feel unique. There are customizable player models and an Origins style datapack and even transmog so you can look how you want while still using good gear. The whole world is the land of Mystodia where you explore strange rifts and meet other survivors and help shape what happens next.
The map is brand new and the world border is still at the original size so everyone gets a fresh start together. The community is queer friendly and has a strict anti bigotry rule and everything is based on working together and collaborating on stories. The vibe is to join the world and help write the story of Mystodia with everyone else through roleplay and adventure.

Ferrum Aetheris is a modded RP SMP where the world was drained long ago by ancient builders and now it is slowly coming back to life. New races live in the ruins and you get to decide if you keep doing what the old builders did or if you try something better.
The server is very focused on player choice. Almost everything is either generated by the world or built by players. Admins are not flying around with creative and worldedit trying to force a story. You shape the world one block at a time and the history in the future is based on what players do.
Roleplay here is mostly casual and not scripted unless there is a really good reason. There is no big audience to entertain. People are just trying to have fun and tell small stories with their friends.
The modpack has around 120 mods and covers a lot of playstyles. There are mods for moving ships and machines so you can build airships trains and elevators that actually move. There are engineering mods and magic mods so redstone fans and magic fans both have stuff to do. There are custom races with unique traits and abilities plus a bunch of different metals tools and weapons if you like detailed crafting.
