Golden Nations is a survival server that is all about world building and geopolitics. Nations rise and fall through war trade and diplomacy and players shape everything.
The world is small at first at 5000 by 5000 and grows with the playerbase. There are no elytras so travel and logistics really matter. There are no villagers so you cannot just spam easy trades. Progression is harder with custom recipes and netherite crafting is strict with a one to one system.
You can claim land and build real nations using a lands style system so borders actually mean something. Roads and rails are important here because walking is faster on proper roads and minecarts move way faster on powered rails.
There are custom gameplay systems like a grindstone rework that lets you pull enchantments off gear into books. Farming is redesigned to be more realistic and to need more planning. Fishing has special drops and rare items so coastal areas can be valuable. You can move mob spawners with silk touch to build custom dungeons farms or defenses.
Maces are super rare with only ten on the whole server and each player can only ever craft one. Enchants on them are limited so they feel like real legendary artifacts. This is a small modded server called Brass and Cogs and it is for people who really like tech mods and survival. It runs on Forge 1.21.1 and it is self hosted on the owners own hardware. The plan is to keep it online all the time and play with a small group instead of some huge crowded place.
The main mods they want are Create and Applied Energistics 2 so the whole server is about automation and big brain factories. There is Bigger Reactors and Draconic Evolution so late game will be very strong and kind of crazy. There is also Create Big Cannons so people can mess with huge contraptions and powerful machines.

BareBonesMP is a hardcore plus survival server that feels like old school Minecraft. When you die you actually lose a heart and you can go all the way down to only three hearts. To get your hearts back you have to craft a special heart crystal with an echo shard and a diamond block.
You can even go above the normal ten hearts and reach up to twenty but those extra hearts are temporary. When you take damage the extra hearts disappear first so you really feel it when you mess up in fights or caves.
The gameplay is basically vanilla with no teleport commands. Fire spread works creepers blow stuff up and the world actually feels dangerous. Stealing and griefing are not allowed though so it is not an anarchy server. People are here to play hard Minecraft not to ruin each others bases.
This server has been around for years and runs all the time on a dedicated machine. There are quality of life plugins like sleep skipping leaderboards player heads armor stand tools and some other small tweaks but it still plays like normal Minecraft.

This server is called Hardcore SMP and it is all about real hardcore survival multiplayer. It works for Java and Bedrock and the world does not reset so everything you build can last as long as you can stay alive.
There is a coin economy that is only run by players. There are no normal item shops from the server. You earn coins from killing mobs and looting chests and then you use a trading system and an auction house to buy and sell stuff with other players.
The land claim system is actually a big deal here. You can claim your base and farms and they are totally safe from grief while you are alive. If you log out your land is still protected. But if you die your claims get deleted and your land is open again so dying really hurts.
Teleporting is very limited on purpose. You get a one time randomtp to go far away into fresh terrain and you can invite others when you use it. After that you have home to go back to your bed and spawn to return to the main spawn area. There are no other tp commands so you still have to travel.
The server is fully non pay to win. There is only one rank called VIP and it only gives cosmetic perks so it does not give any gameplay advantage. The store also has a revive which is like starting over on a new account.
