PurpleSMP is a small survival server that feels simple but still refined. It is mostly PVE and it is meant to be a relaxing place to build on the latest Minecraft versions. PvP is off by default but you can turn it on if you just want to mess around with friends.
It has mcMMO so grinding skills and resources actually feels satisfying. The economy is fully player made since there are no server shops and no server currency.
Your builds are protected with land claims and the server also logs every block placed or destroyed. It even backs up your inventory when you join leave and when you die so staff can help restore items if you lose stuff because someone broke the rules.
There is a strong anti cheat and staff get alerts right away when it triggers. There is no world border so you can go far out and find untouched land and make something huge. You also get a personal vault for extra storage and there is a live map you can view like a google maps style page.

EverythingMinecraft is a whitelisted survival server that tries to stay safe and chill. You have to verify by email so it cuts down on trolls a lot.
It feels like classic survival where you just explore and build and make your own spot. It uses CoreProtect for help with damage but there are no land claims so you still have to be smart.
You can also get your own website profile and it connects to a database for the server. They also say user profiles and leaderboards and more stuff is coming soon. You do not need Discord to play.

HermitLike Season Two is a survival server inspired by HermitCraft. It already has an active group of players and it is looking for more people to join in and start the new season together.
The server is very early since it only started about two weeks ago. You can jump in before the Shopping District opens and before the End opens.

Davidscloud is a survival SMP server that has been around since 1.7.10 and it is made for long term play. It feels like a place for builders and explorers and casual players who want a steady community.
The server focuses on fair gameplay with no pay to win stuff. It has grief prevention claims where you start with 2000 claim blocks and you earn 120 more per hour. Pets are protected too and there is an active admin team to help.
There is a banking system that earns interest while you play and a survival spawn market with merchants. You can buy basics like potions fish and wood through gameplay.

I found a new Towny server called GamerHub Towny and it is built around towns and a small friendly community. The big thing is it has no resets so your builds can stay.
Griefing and stealing are not allowed so it feels safer to play. A lot of the players are from Oceania and the US and people are ready to help new players.
It has ingame ranking that uses ingame money and it also has Dynmap so you can see the world. There are player warps and player shops plus a sell only server shop. It also has Jobs and MCMMO.
It usually has a few players on but it gets more active when the owner streams and it can hit 8 or more online. The server supports version 1.21.10 or similar and it also has a Bedrock port.

The main extra thing here is the skills plugin that makes grinding feel better. There is a player run economy with no server shops and no currency so trading is up to the players.
You can claim land to protect your builds and there are player vaults for extra storage. PvP is off by default and you can toggle it if you only want to fight with friends.
The staff takes rules seriously and they log blocks so grief is easier to catch. They also back up your inventory on join leave and death so lost items can be checked and restored when it is a rule issue. There is anti cheat and staff gets alerts when it flags.

It is in beta right now so it is still getting started. There is an economy with a server shop plus player shops and a jobs system so you can earn money from stuff like mining farming and fishing.
There is MCMMO skill leveling and graves to help keep your gear safe when you die. You can claim land to protect builds and it is set up to be no griefing.
There is a mining world for resources and a custom world with unique terrain. The world is pre generated to help things run smoother and you can use random teleport in the main world or pay to use it in the mining world. You can also set up to three personal warps.
It supports Java and Bedrock crossplay and has daily and playtime rewards plus vote rewards with keys and loot.

This is a chill vanilla survival server that runs one shared world on Hard. It is meant for long term play and it does not do resets.
There are no land claims and no locked chests and no kits. There are also no paid ranks and no donations or perks so everyone plays the same.
Stealing or griefing gets you a permanent ban. Players can look at container transaction logs to report theft. PvP is only allowed if both players agree.
It is not chaotic and it is not a lobby thing. It feels like normal survival with recognizable players and around 40 people online in the same world. You can explore right away then use the in game commands to read the rules and learn how to get full access.
