I found a brand new community SMP that is planning to open once they hit 10 players. It is meant for chill people who actually play and talk.
The world is fresh and there is a 3500 radius world border so everyone stays closer together. They say it is no pay to win and they want a friendly community.
They also plan to do events and community builds. Griefers and drama are not wanted so it sounds like they are trying to keep it calm.

I found a survival server that tries to feel like classic Minecraft again. It is on hard difficulty and keep inventory is off so dying matters.
It keeps plugins simple. You get stuff like spawn and sethome and night skipping but it does not go way beyond that.
There are no land claims so you can just play and explore. The server leans on trust and community but griefing and cheating are not allowed.
Trading is a big deal here. People use raw gold as money and there is a player shopping area.
The rules are clear. No hacks or x ray and no removing lava fog. Do not mess with other peoples builds or entities and give bases some space. Most big duping is banned but a few single item dupes like rails and string are allowed. Hate speech is not allowed.
