This is a brand new SMP that has a vanilla kind of vibe but it is not boring. It is meant to be fun without turning into a total mess and the owner is still working on it and changing things based on what players want.
There are no land claims so you can build anywhere and raid anywhere. Java and Bedrock players can both join. There are player shops plus an auction house and duels if you want a fast way to make cash.
The server has custom enchants that are meant to feel balanced like 3×3 drills and lifesteal. The terrain is custom too but it still fits in with the normal Minecraft look.
It runs well even on low end PCs. PvE gets harder the farther you travel out and there are random world events every 30 minutes where some help you some hurt you and some are just weird.

I found a very early alpha server that is going for late medieval faction warfare with RPG style progression and a player run economy.
You can pick how you want to play. You can go all in on PvP wars. You can grind like an MMO. Or you can stay more independent and be a trader gatherer craftsman or contractor who supplies factions and builds for other players.
There is custom content like crops furniture and custom weapons and armor with unique effects. The economy uses mixed currency and the main market hub is called Osthaven where you spawn and trade.
Out in the wilderness players can set up temporary camps that are protected. Mobs are stronger than vanilla and there are boss mobs that are meant for party play. Trading is also safer because it uses a secure MMO style trade window system.
Since it is early alpha they want testers who will try mechanics find bugs check balance and give honest feedback to help shape the server.

The Anchor is a survival SMP that is trying hard to treat players seriously and actually listen to feedback. It feels like the kind of place where staff wants the community to be seen and where big changes get thought through with players first.
It supports cross play so Java and Bedrock players can be on the same server. The overworld is meant to never reset so your progress can stay for the long run. There is also a separate resource world that resets monthly so you can gather materials without ruining the main world.
The server has playtime based ranks with longer gaps between them so it feels earned. There is also a claim system that protects builds and claimed areas cannot be griefed. After you reach the second rank your claims are permanent.
There is a tag system too. By voting or using the vote shop you can get keys for a crate that can give one of 42 unique tags to show next to your name. You can try to collect them all and later you may be able to trade them.

Aetheria is a survival server I found that is made for people who just want to build and explore without dealing with toxic stuff.
The world is fresh so everyone starts together and players can form nations and communities. It stays vanilla focused so it feels like normal Minecraft survival.
The rules are a big deal here. There is no non consensual PvP so fights only happen if both players agree. There is also no griefing and no stealing so your builds and items are meant to stay safe.
