I found a modded Minecraft server running on 1.20.1 and it is built around a fantasy RPG vibe with progression. It has races and classes plus leveling so it feels like you are building a character not just a base.
The world is focused on fantasy generation and biomes. You can run into stuff like orcs goblins and dragons and there is Minecolonies with a Byzantine styles pack and immersive quests too.
Travel is more controlled so you cannot just teleport everywhere. You are meant to use the modpack options like spells waystones and elytras and you even start with free waystones.
It is hosted on dedicated hardware in Europe and it uses an extra proxy tunnel through Germany to help players from far away. The server started on February 15 and it says no pay to win and it stays up as long as at least one player is active then it rotates packs when it goes inactive.
