VitaNova SMP is a brand new survival world that just opened and it feels really fresh and clean. The server is focused on building a small community of players who want to play survival for a long time and not just hop in and out.
There is an economy so you can work to become really rich if you want. You can claim land using a lands style system so your builds and bases are protected. There are jobs you can do for money and there are skills you can level with AuraSkills so you feel like your character is actually progressing.
If you like to fish there is PyroFishing so fishing is not just boring waiting but gives you extra stuff and more to do. You can also just build giant cities with other players or chill alone and relax in your own little area.
From the first of January to the thirty first of January you can use a calendar command in game to claim free items which is really cool for new players who are just starting on the server.
Overall VitaNova SMP is a simple survival server with plugins that make the world feel more alive and give you more goals while still keeping the normal Minecraft feeling.

This is a public modded Minecraft server that uses a Naruto style mod. The server is called Shinrasei and it is all about PvP and PvE with ninja powers.
You can join a hidden village and do missions that help your village grow stronger. You choose if you want to stay loyal or if you want to go rogue and fight in wars. There is also an economy so you can trade and buy stuff.

I found this server called Eden and it is like a giant social experiment in Minecraft. The whole idea is to see if players can make a working society without any admin stepping in to fix stuff.
The world has real scarcity. There are no admin shops that bail you out. Resources can actually run out and even crops are locked to certain biomes. So if you want a big factory or base you need a real supply chain that goes across the map.
Protecting your base is not some magic claim command. You have to reinforce blocks with materials so breaking in costs time and resources. Raids and wars feel like actual sieges and not just someone typing a command.
Justice is also handled by players. If someone messes with you it is on you to track them down. The server uses a system where you can imprison people in the Nether and that acts like the jail.
The Nether is not just a prison though. It is also full of important resources you need to progress. So both criminals and normal players have to share this super dangerous dimension.
The server is pretty new and the map started only a few weeks ago. They say the world will never reset and the first big alliances and settlements are already starting to form. It feels like the kind of place where the story is written by the players who stick around.

GlowySMP is a new semi vanilla SMP that is whitelisted and focused on PvE. It looks like a server where people just want to play survival and chill together.

United Lands is a Towny Earth SMP that feels like a big world map where players build towns and nations and fight over land. The map is scaled so you can claim big areas and shape your own empire with your friends.
When I joined I noticed the server has lots of custom features. There are custom items and custom gear and even different foods like avocados and mac and cheese. You can pick from 7 different jobs and they each have skill trees so you can level up and get stronger in your own way.
The economy is fully player run. There are no admin shops at all. Players use warps and make their own shops and you have to hunt around for the best prices or try to become the one everyone buys from.
There is pvp and also roleplay so you can either be a builder who makes cool towns or a fighter who joins wars or both. You can join an already made town or nation or start your own and try to become powerful.
The server is not pay to win. The store is only cosmetic so people who spend money do not get gameplay advantages. It feels fair because everyone plays on the same level.

This server is called Minescape and it feels like someone turned Minecraft into an MMO. When you play here you focus on skills quests and combat instead of just regular survival.
There is a big focus on progression and a player driven economy. Stuff is not super easy on purpose. Combat and leveling are harder than normal Minecraft so it feels more like an MMO that you stick with for a long time instead of a quick game.

This server is called MineScape and it feels like playing Old School RuneScape but inside Minecraft. It is built as a big MMORPG world where you start as a small adventurer and try to become really strong over time.

Eden is a long term civilization style SMP where the whole world is built and run by players.
There are no world resets and admins stay out of the way most of the time. There are no protected towns and no pre built areas. If you see a road or a city or a farm it is because some group of players planned it and built it and now has to defend it.
Players make their own nations and cities. They decide who leads them and how laws work and what happens to criminals. Alliances rise and fall and different governments get tested when there is pressure or war.
The server uses reinforced blocks so bases and vaults are hard to raid and take real effort to break. Crops are regional so some only grow in certain biomes and ores spawn as you mine so tools and location matter. Some resources are locked to certain regions so people need trade and good logistics.
There are snitch style blocks that track activity for security and investigations. There is also a system where players can capture other players and imprison them in the Nether as a way to punish crimes or use pressure during conflicts.
Right now the map is fresh and shops and towns are just starting to appear. The player count is already decent and the whole world feels like it is at the beginning of something big.

StrayaMC is a server that focuses on island style gameplay with Skyblock and Oneblock. It is hosted in Australia so people in OCE get really good ping but anyone can still join and play.
