Alathra is a survival roleplay server that uses Towny so people can claim land and build their own towns and full kingdoms. The whole world is custom with stuff like glaciers volcanoes and mesas so it feels way different than normal Minecraft.
There are a ton of custom weapons and unique armors. You can fight with things like wood copper and steel gear and different types of chainmail so combat feels fresh. There are siege weapons horse combat a war system and more so battles can be really intense.
Brewing is a big deal here. The server uses the Brewery plugin so you can make lots of different drinks and almost roleplay as a tavern keeper. Fishing is also unique with many types of fish and special rods and baits so even basic stuff feels deeper.
The server has immersive plugins like lockpicking fast travel ports carriage stations and customizable NPCs. There are random encounters too where you can run into mobs like Bog Frogs or even summon bosses for rare loot.
The lore is huge and there is a wiki to keep track of it. Players make their own religions conflicts and organizations. You can create a giant city or a tiny quiet village and then write your own story in the world with other players.
Overall it feels like a serious but fun roleplay world where people build history and kingdoms over time instead of just joining and leaving right away.
