Minemist is a small community SMP I found that is hosted in Sydney Australia so it is made for Oceania players who are tired of high ping. It runs Java 1.21.11 and it opened on November 25th 2025 so it still feels new and everyone is starting fresh.
The whole vibe is Towny with towns and micro communities plus war and geopolitics. The world is bordered and there is a server story too. There is a strange server entity called Misty who watches everything and shows up in different forms while keeping the server running.
Progression is a big deal here. Jobs help you grow and there is a culture system with progression ranks. Enchantments are not just easy villager shopping because villagers do not provide enchanted books. You have to craft vanilla enchantments with culture tablets or use the enchanting table or loot them from the world. Mending takes work and endgame gear is slowed so when someone is fully geared it actually means something.
There are also custom enchantments for extra combat power. It has chest locks plus an auction house player warps and player vaults. War is a thing but it is not meant to be a heavy griefing server and it sounds pretty relaxed.

CaliCraft is a player run server based out of California where the whole point is that players can shape what happens. Every two weeks everyone elects an Emperor and that person can actually change a lot. They can add or remove plugins across gamemodes and make laws and even imprison people. If you get marked as a fugitive you can end up spawning in prison when you die or get dragged back in handcuffs if someone catches you.
The server has a lobby so you can jump into different gamemodes fast. There is Modded Survival with custom enchantments and skills and jobs and an auction house economy. It also has custom dungeons and vote crates with strong gear and it is a claim world with a kingdom run by the Emperor.
There is also Vanilla Survival with quests and chest sorting and daily rewards. There is Skyblock with classic island play plus addons. There is a Cobblemon mode where you catch train and battle Pokemon inside Minecraft and it runs on a separate Fabric server so you need the Cobblemon modpack installed.
They also use a custom resource pack with unique mobs and animals and elites plus dungeon bosses with special drops. Versions supported are 1.17.1 to 1.21.10 and it works on Java and Bedrock.

GlowSMP is a newly released Vanilla plus SMP that runs on 1.21 to 1.21.10 and it supports both Java and Bedrock. The vibe is build grind or just chill with other players and try to grow a real community.
Claims are on so you do not have to stress about griefing. The server adds a bunch of quality of life stuff like voice chat and messages better harvesting chest sorting a gradient tool graves and an online map.
There is also a fishing system with lots of new fish you can catch and sell plus tracking and a leaderboard for the top fisherman. You can find 11 special enchantment books that help with building or gathering like breaking a whole tree at once and haste for mining.
Jobs are set up so you do not pick only a few. You earn experience and money from most actions and there is a clean leaderboard to show who does what the most. There is even a centralized storage network where you can make a terminal in your base and connect chests to search and store items easier.
It is fully free to play and everything stays obtainable for everyone. There are vote ranks and a shop if you do not want the hassle but it is not required.

Loop de Loop is a fresh SMP that is trying to feel like vanilla but still has extra stuff that fits in. The server says it will keep adding more content over time and they want to do it often.
It has McMMO so when you mine and chop and do normal survival stuff you level up skills and get special abilities. There is also an economy with an item shop and an auction house so you can buy and sell and try to get rich.

Prosperia is a survival SMP that feels like it actually has stuff to do. It is made for long term play and it does not have a store. The focus is on earning progress through time and effort so it does not feel like instant power jumps.
The world has custom terrain and custom structures so exploring stays fun. There are land claims so you can build in peace and keep big projects safe.
There are custom enchantments and you can disenchant too. Farming and fishing go deeper with PyroFarming and PyroFishingPro and you can chase better rewards over time.
For late game there is a custom dungeon with custom mobs and exclusive gear. You can also use safari nets for moving mobs. There are rideable and flying pets plus MCMMO progression.
Money comes from jobs and the economy is player driven with an auction house. There are also custom spawners auto crop planters and an upgradable hopper. The team is small and keeps doing steady updates and they listen to feedback.
