AtlasCivs is a Minecraft server about geopolitical roleplay and nations. The world does not reset so everything people build and every story they make actually sticks around.
There is a 6k by 6k claimable area so you can protect personal bases and large national builds. The nether is set to a 1 to 1 ratio so people are pushed to use rails paths canals and normal routes instead of zooming everywhere.
Players create nations and those nations deal with diplomacy war and trade. Making a nation is pretty easy and you do not even have to do it if you just want to live somewhere and build.
The community likes creative projects a lot. People are into writing drawing music and videos and that kind of stuff is encouraged and welcomed.
The server uses Coreprotect that players can access. It has proximity voice chat multiplayer sleep playerheads on death and elytras are disabled. It is a Java server and you need to get whitelisted with your in game name and age.

Cherry Block is a small survival server that feels like a new Minecraft home. It is a classic style SMP where you just jump in and play survival with other people.
The server uses some Vanilla Tweaks that give little quality of life changes. It still feels like normal Minecraft and it still has challenge but some things are smoother and less annoying.
The community is focused on being nice and working together. People here try to be kind and respect each other. There is no griefing or stealing allowed so builds stay safe. Cheating and hacking are not allowed either so the gameplay stays fair.

There is a big 6k by 6k area that you can claim so both your personal base and your nation builds are protected. Nations are made by players and they handle diplomacy war and trade with each other. You can found your own nation or just live inside one if you want.
The nether is a 1 to 1 scale so it is not faster to travel there. This makes people use roads rails canals and paths in the overworld instead of just flying around. Elytras are removed so travel and building infrastructure actually matters.
The community really likes creative projects too. People write stories draw art make music and videos and all that stuff is welcome. Coreprotect is on and players can use it. There is also proximity chat and multiplayer sleep to make normal survival feel more alive.
Whitelisting is simple and only asks for your in game name and age.

I found this Minecraft host called KingsDomain and it is actually free and not trash. The default plan gives 3 GB RAM 25 GB SSD and 200 percent CPU which is kind of crazy for a free plan.
The cool part is the server stays online all the time. There are no forced ads no shutdown timer and no weird queue stuff. So it feels like a real 24 7 server and not some fake free thing.
They also have a coin system where you can upgrade your server without using real money. You just grab coins from links that refresh every hour and then you can get more RAM CPU or storage.
So if you want to try hosting your own Minecraft server for free this is one of the few hosts I have seen that actually looks decent.
