Many have turned to the Papacy for salvation to the ever shrinking Christian states of the Balkans, hoping that a successful crusade could achieve what has been lost at Nikopolis decades before, driving the Turks out of Europe. Who would come victorious in the perpetual struggle of the Eastern Mediterranean, and can the relentless tide of fate be undone? Only time will tell.
