This server is a pure anarchy style vanilla world and there are seriously no rules. You can do whatever you want. There are no bans at all only mutes if you spam the chat.
The world is huge with a 30 million wide border and it is vanilla terrain. When you die you respawn within 500 blocks of 0 0 so spawn is always active and dangerous. The server runs on hard difficulty so even basic survival takes some effort.
There are no teleports and no shortcuts. If you want to go somewhere you walk or you build something yourself. The world never resets so everything you build or destroy can stay there. Over 6700 players have already joined since it launched in July 2023 so there is a lot of history out there.
The server is always kept on the latest Minecraft version and it supports multiple versions with ViaVersion so you do not have to be on one exact version to join. It runs on strong hardware in New York so it is built to be lag free.
There is a discord community and the owner Vorlice is around to answer technical questions but the actual gameplay is basically total freedom with no rules.

This server is called MinecraftOffline and it feels like a laid back survival world with a twist. The owners use a bunch of custom plugins so it does not feel like plain vanilla.
You can set a home and teleport back with simple commands so exploring is less annoying. There is also a teleport request system so you can warp to friends instead of everyone walking forever.
The big thing is lifesteal. When you kill other players you gain hearts and when you die you lose hearts. If you lose all your hearts you get banned so PvP actually matters a lot. New players get a one hour grace period where they do not lose hearts so they can settle in first.
There is a combat plugin that blocks commands while you are fighting and it punishes combat logging. If someone logs out in a fight they get replaced by an npc that can be killed and it drops all their items.
The server tries to block extreme speed cheats and also has a basic anti spam system for chat. It is not perfect but it stops the worst stuff.
There is an in game store where you can spend vote tokens on custom name colors and custom motds. The stats system tracks playtime kills and deaths and gives rewards when you hit certain milestones.
Players can also skip the night by typing one command so you are not stuck waiting for morning if enough people want to sleep.

Electron SMP is a new semi vanilla server that is made to feel really close to pure vanilla. It is inspired by DonutSMP but it does not have a bunch of crazy plugins.
Spawn is built in an Infuse style and right now there is only one lava cast. The whole idea is to get players who want to lava cast all around spawn and slowly turn it into something insane. The spawn area is supposed to become a total mess over time because of the players.
The server is for people who actually play the game. Players here grind for gear and power. They pvp and raid other players. They do long term progress and do not just log on walk around and log off. If you quit after ten minutes this server is not really for you.
Rules are super simple. No hacking. No slurs. Pretty much everything else is fair game. That means griefing around spawn is allowed. Lava casting is allowed. Raiding is allowed.

I found this server called Aetheria and it is a brand new FFA PvP world. It is already pretty chaotic and everyone is fighting all the time.

This server is called The Mace SMP and it is a survival multiplayer world where only three maces exist at all. That means every fight and every plan is built around who holds these weapons and who is trying to steal them.
Each mace is different. There is a Breach Mace a Density Mace and a Wind Burst Mace. Players use strategy pvp alliances and even betrayal to control them. If someone manages to combine all three they can make one max mace that has all three enchants.

This server is a classic prison style world that feels like the old days before everything got super overpowered. You start with basic tools and leather armor and you actually have to grind to rank up. It is all about mining smelting selling and taking big risks in pvp areas to make money.
The ranks go from A all the way to Parolee and then Citizen. When you hit the top rank you can prestige for special rewards. There are guards watching the prison and they protect new players and enforce contraband rules. Swords and potions are illegal and if a guard sees you with them they will fight you.
You can rent a prison cell or a prison plot to store stuff build or make your own shop. There are also special custom plants that are illegal in the prison. You can grow them in your cell for profit but you have to hide them from guards. There is custom fishing quests for extra cash or items and an auction house for trading.
The grind is pretty tough because you have to smelt your ores and then walk through pvp zones to reach the commissary to sell them. No instant sell here. There is solitary confinement that guards can use for bad behavior and there are bounties if you want to hunt enemies. There are parkour challenges spread through the prison too. The whole server feels nostalgic and focused on community and hard work instead of free gear.
