The Pen is a classic prison server that feels like the old days where you start weak and you actually have to grind. You begin with basic tools and leather armor then you work your way up the ranks from A through H and eventually Parolee and Citizen.
A big part of the server is risk. You smelt your ores and you have to travel through PvP zones to sell at the Commissary. Swords and potions are illegal and guards will fight you if they catch you with them. If you act up you can even get sent to solitary confinement.
There is more to do than just mining. You can rent a cell or a plot to store stuff build grow special illegal plants for profit and even set up your own shop. You can earn money by fishing mining growing contraband crops or selling to other players.
It also has quests for extra cash or special items plus bounties you can place on enemies and an auction house for trading. There are parkour challenges around the prison too and once you hit the top you can prestige for special rewards.

The world uses Tectonic generation so the land looks realistic with big mountains and valleys. There are also custom items and even furniture but it is entity based so they plan limits to help with lag.
