BareBonesMP has a Hardcore Plus server where dying actually hurts you. Every death takes away one heart until you hit a minimum of 3 hearts.
To get hearts back you have to craft a Heart Crystal using an echo shard and a diamond block. It gives you one heart back and it can even push you past 10 hearts up to 20. Those extra hearts are temporary so they get eaten first when you take damage.
Gameplay stays basically vanilla with no teleport commands. Fire spread and explosions are on so the world can get messy if you are not careful. Even with that it is not an anarchy server and stealing and griefing are not allowed.
There is also a main vanilla SMP that has been around since 2019 with a classic golden days vibe and a whitelisted community that people compare to Hermitcraft. Events happen every weekend and there are mayor elections every month. The server runs 24 7 with QoL plugins like 50 percent sleep leaderboards player and mob heads and armor stand tools plus optional proximity voice and cross chat. The map was reset on Aug 10th 2025.
