This server is called The Nations SMP and it is all about politics and borders and player made countries. The world is a big 20k by 20k map so there is a lot of land to fight over or protect.
They use special claiming and diplomacy plugins that let you literally draw borders on the map and make treaties and custom agreements. So you can set up nations make alliances or break them and get deep into wars and deals.
The staff team is experienced and they run these events for a long time. They like to turn the server into civilization style videos so they need a lot of players to make the world feel active.
They want to reach 150 members before they fully start and they already have over 60 people. If you like politics diplomacy and faction style gameplay this server is built for that.

United Lands is a Towny Earth SMP that feels like a big world map where players build towns and nations and fight over land. The map is scaled so you can claim big areas and shape your own empire with your friends.
When I joined I noticed the server has lots of custom features. There are custom items and custom gear and even different foods like avocados and mac and cheese. You can pick from 7 different jobs and they each have skill trees so you can level up and get stronger in your own way.
The economy is fully player run. There are no admin shops at all. Players use warps and make their own shops and you have to hunt around for the best prices or try to become the one everyone buys from.
There is pvp and also roleplay so you can either be a builder who makes cool towns or a fighter who joins wars or both. You can join an already made town or nation or start your own and try to become powerful.
The server is not pay to win. The store is only cosmetic so people who spend money do not get gameplay advantages. It feels fair because everyone plays on the same level.

SmokeyMC is a towny style SMP server where you can start your own town or join one that already exists. It is all about building up a community and deciding if your town will be peaceful or go to war with others.
The server has playtime based ranks and jobs so the more you play the more you unlock. There is MCMMO so your skills and progression actually matter as you keep grinding.
You can explore custom terrain and use rtp plus there are resource and flat worlds if you just want to gather stuff or build big projects. There is also an online server map so you can track towns and battles in the world.
The economy uses player made shops and in game balance so players run the market themselves. There are fun monthly server events which keep things from getting boring.
