Rosedalean SMP is a pretty new survival multiplayer world that is trying to grow into a chill community. It feels like a fresh start so you do not have to join some huge server that is already full of mega bases.
The server is whitelisted and it is for adults so the vibe is more relaxed. People like to build cool bases run factions and join in events. The community seems really welcoming and they want new players to jump into builds and group projects.

ShovelCraft is a semi vanilla SMP that is all about building and long stories instead of rushing to the end.
The server world is split into two main zones. In the Green Zone you cannot do pvp or steal or grief. There are no generated structures there and it is all about building towns trading and making lore together. In the Red Zone pvp is on and stealing is allowed and normal structures can generate so it feels more dangerous but you still are not supposed to just grief everything.
The End is turned off so there are no elytras or shulker farms. People travel by land or on water or through the Nether so the world feels bigger and slower. The world is meant to last a long time with no planned resets so your builds and stories can stay.
There is a diamond based economy and a team system. Teams can level up by using diamonds and that unlocks extra perks like more warps shared storage and more member slots. There are also seasonal competitions that give lore themed rewards like armor trims and shulker boxes.
The gameplay is mostly vanilla but there are some small quality of life things like home tpa duel and shops. There is no pay to win and no special donor perks. Voice chat is optional if you want to talk instead of just type.

RigoloSMP is a vanilla style SMP that has been around for about three years. It went offline for a while and now it is back with a mini season. The world border is smaller right now and is about 3072 by 3072. It grows every Friday. Next season will go back to a normal border.
The server uses a few plugins like simple voice chat custom music discs custom goat horns squaremap and co inspect. None of these change the base game so it still feels like regular Minecraft. Donator perks are also not pay to win and for this mini season they are free.
The server used to hit around 50 players and they are trying to get that active community back. The current season really needs more players. The person talking about it even started as a normal player and is now a manager so it seems like the staff come from the community.

Kindred Vale is a survival server that feels like a safe home. It is made for Java players who want a no grief world so your builds are not getting ruined all the time. The whole server is about being respectful and chill so new players and veterans can play together without drama.

Lumenor SMP is in its second season and it just opened. The people running it really want new players to join and hang out.
The server has custom biomes and structures so the world feels different when you explore. There are some interesting plugins too but it still sounds like normal survival.
There is lore on the server that has to do with a limit of 5 maces so players can get into some story stuff while they play. It is not just random survival.

This is a modded Minecraft server that feels like vanilla but with more stuff to explore. It runs on 1.20.4 fabric and it keeps the game pretty balanced.

HollowSMP Season 2 just started and it feels like a fresh new world to grind on. It is Survival plus so it keeps the vanilla survival style but adds some quality of life stuff that makes everything smoother.
The server is on Java 1.21.10 and it also supports Bedrock players so your friends on other platforms can join too. There is built in proximity voice chat so people can talk when they get close in game which makes exploring and teaming way more fun.
