I found a small semi vanilla SMP that is in a testing phase right now.
The plan is to fully start in about a week so it feels like a fresh beginning and a good time to join early.

The server plans to become semi private once the member count gets to around 15. After that it sounds like they will slow down on letting new people in so the community stays tight.
