I found this Minecraft network that is pretty new and still in early launch. It is called NovaCraft Network and it focuses on fair progression and actually listening to players. It does not feel pay to win and it does not rely on weird gimmicks.
The main gamemode right now is Skyblock. It has balanced progression and a player driven economy. It seems made for both casual players who just want to chill and also for competitive players who like to grind and race ahead.
There is also BedWars with 2v2 and 4v4 maps so it is good for small groups and friends who want quick pvp games. For people who like classic Minecraft there is a Survival world on hard difficulty with normal gameplay and nothing super crazy added on top.
The owners say they focus on fair progression active development and community feedback that actually matters. They are asking for players who want to help shape the server from the ground up so it feels like they really want ideas and suggestions.

This is a new Minecraft SMP that is all about Lifesteal and PVP. The server has only been up for a few days so the world still feels really fresh.
There is a 3000 by 3000 block world border so players run into each other pretty often. It makes fights happen more and bases are not super far away.
The server has one person sleep so nights go by faster which is nice for building and exploring. It also supports both of Xaero maps so it is easier to find your way around.
There is simple voice chat so players can talk in game and it makes fights and teaming way more fun.
The End fight is already planned. It happens on Saturday January 3rd at 5 PM EST so everyone can get ready and gear up.
Right now there are about eight active players and it feels like a small but growing PVP community.

Oathwood SMP is a survival server where everything revolves around towns and community. It has Towny so players can build towns claim land and actually protect what they make.
There is an economy and it feels like players run most of it. People set up their own shops using Shopkeepers and trade with each other instead of just using some giant admin shop.
Builds are protected with ChestLock so your stuff is a lot safer. It makes the server feel more long term and not like you will lose everything in one night.
The gameplay is focused on balanced survival. It does not sound super crazy or over the top. It is more about playing for a long time and slowly growing your town and your friends.

Prosperia is a no reset SMP where the main world is meant to last a long time. The whole idea is that you can stay on the same map for months and keep building without losing your progress.
The world has custom terrain and custom structures but it still feels like normal survival. It just has more depth without getting super complicated. You earn your progression and there is a player driven economy with jobs and MCMMO and land claiming and some quality of life stuff that makes everything smoother.
The main world never resets so your bases and claims and progress are supposed to stick around. Only the resource world resets so you can still gather new stuff without your builds getting deleted.
The server is run by a small team that clearly cares about balance and polish. They focus on making a solid community instead of trying to get the biggest player count. It is growing slowly on purpose.

ONLYXP is a really hard survival server that never feels finished. The whole idea is that every player is always racing for experience before each wipe so the field stays even.
There are minimal custom coded plugins and there are no tp or spawn or sethome commands so you have to travel and survive for real. Ranks use xp so the time you spend grinding actually matters.
The world gets reset but the xp you earn does not. This makes every new week feel fresh because you log into a new world and choose new farms and new strategies to get as much xp as possible.
It feels like survival with a real goal instead of just sitting on stuff and waiting to be raided. Your builds and land reset but your grind and your xp stay.
If you want a peaceful chill server this is probably not for you. If you like the grind and like working in teams and like vanilla style pvp this server fits you really well.

This server is called RaidCube and it is a semi vanilla survival world. It feels pretty balanced so you are not super overpowered right away. You just play normal Minecraft and survive.
The server is pretty new and the community is still small. People seem friendly and it feels like everyone kind of recognizes each other. It gives that chill vibe where you can just log in and relax.
Around spawn there is challenging parkour you can try. There are also hidden chests you can find if you like exploring. It makes the spawn area feel fun instead of just a place you run past.

This is a small survival server that still feels really active. It is not a giant laggy hub and not a random private world with no rules. There are usually enough people on like a couple dozen so chat is alive and players kind of know each other.
The server runs on hard mode and keep inventory is turned off. You actually have to survive and learn how to not die all the time. If you like a basic SMP where you grind and build and talk to people this server fits that. It is not for needy players who want to be carried.
The staff here really hate hacking and griefing. They are proud of how well they catch griefers and how fast they can roll back damage and ban people. If you want a place where your builds are protected by active moderation this is good.

This server is a towny survival smp where you can make towns and claim land with other players. It feels pretty chill and the rules are about being respectful so people can build without getting messed with.
There is a full towny system and you can build up your place and work together. You can also level up skills with McMMO and do different jobs to earn cash in game. Shops are fair and the crates are not super overpowered so it does not feel pay to win.
If you like fighting there is a kit pvp arena with balanced kits. It is made so players can battle without crazy unfair gear. Treefeller is turned on too so chopping trees is faster.
