Ordinary SMP is a vanilla survival server on Java 1.21.11 and it stays up to date with the newest stuff. It feels like a tight knit place with players from all over who like to build and explore together.
The server is whitelisted so the community stays respectful and active. There are server wide events like PvP battles build contests and big community projects so it does not get boring.
For safety they use Ledger to track player activity so griefing or stealing can be investigated. It also has BlueMap so you can check an interactive live map.
There is Simple VoiceChat for talking in game plus AudioPlayer for custom audio. The dragon can drop elytra too and there is a custom resource pack with cosmetics trophies and event rewards with a HermitCraft inspired vibe.

I found a decent sized survival SMP with around 10 active players and about 5 daily. It is made to feel like classic Minecraft and it stays really close to vanilla.
There are no teleports so no home commands and no player teleport. There are no land claims either. They use CoreProtect to track griefing and they do strict punishments.
There are no kits and no perks and no scripted towns. Players make their own clans and villages and cities without a plugin running everything.
