This server is called The Nations SMP and it is all about politics and borders and player made countries. The world is a big 20k by 20k map so there is a lot of land to fight over or protect.
They use special claiming and diplomacy plugins that let you literally draw borders on the map and make treaties and custom agreements. So you can set up nations make alliances or break them and get deep into wars and deals.
The staff team is experienced and they run these events for a long time. They like to turn the server into civilization style videos so they need a lot of players to make the world feel active.
They want to reach 150 members before they fully start and they already have over 60 people. If you like politics diplomacy and faction style gameplay this server is built for that.

Mappercraft is a survival server with light roleplay where players make their own nations and settle on an earth style map. It feels close to vanilla because staff runs most things instead of heavy plugins.
You can claim a spot as a settlement and staff deals with any griefing that breaks the rules. Later you can join up with other settlements and form a full nation.
Nations can make alliances or go to war and try to take land by force. It is all about diplomacy and big conflicts so who you team with actually matters.
The server sometimes runs building competitions to keep people active. There is a statue contest where the winner gets their build in spawn and also some rare resources that are not normally found on the map.

This server is all about geopolitics in Minecraft and it looks really cool. The whole idea is that players make nations and companies and try to control the world.
