I found Malgazar SMP and it is a chill survival server where people are not supposed to mess up your builds. It is meant to feel friendly and active and it runs on Purpur. The server is hosted in the UK and it uses Minecraft 1.21.11.
The rules are serious about no griefing and no stealing and no scamming. PvP is not allowed unless both people agree and slurs and drama are not allowed. X ray cheats seed maps and duping glitches are also not allowed and you are not supposed to harm other peoples pets or animals. If you break rules you can get locked in a cage for some time or get banned.
There are some QOL stuff like keep inventory and explosions not breaking blocks. There is veinminer and mcmmo skills and a mod that can roll back grief and show who interacted with blocks. You can also teleport to other players. Fishing has extra rare loot and the world border is set to 15k with outer end islands resetting every week.

Planet One is a small whitelisted modded server community that has been around in different forms since 2019. Right now it runs a custom modpack centered on Create and Botania with other mods mixed in.
The world has been running since October 2024. It started on 1.16.5 and later got updated to 1.20.1 with the world regenerated except for player builds near spawn. The plan is to keep this world for the long run and update again only when most mods move to a newer version.
It feels more alive because it uses Serene Seasons and Dynamic Surroundings. The server is also big on trains and rail projects with Steam n Rails and Create Railways Navigator so people can build huge railway networks together.

I found a modded Minecraft server running on 1.20.1 that is built for stable play and smooth progression. It is hosted on dedicated hardware in Europe and it also uses an extra proxy tunnel through Germany. That helps international players get better ping even if they are far away.
