I found a modded Origins RPG server that is built around tech and magic and it feels like it wants you to make your own story.
It has tons of dungeons and monsters and magic and it uses mods like Create Ice and Fire Valoria Tinkers Construct and Iron Spells and Spell Books plus more.
You can pick from lots of races and classes and backgrounds and even an alignment for magic. People can make kingdoms factions nations or rebellions and roleplay it out while traveling around.
It also includes FTB so you can team up claim chunks and protect your stuff from thieves. The server has proximity voice chat and simple shops and it is still new but getting more players over time.

The main vibe is exploring and building and discovering things together. It is not competitive and it is not for people who only want to play solo.

LegacyMC is a vanilla survival anarchy server that feels raw and wide open. There are no rules and no gameplay changing plugins so what happens is on the players.
I found that it is meant to be long term with no resets. There are no land claims and no teleporting. PvP is on and griefing and raiding are allowed so you have to watch your back.
It runs on dedicated hardware in Australia which is nice for Australia and New Zealand players who want lower lag. It is open to everyone with no whitelist and there is no pay to win or monetisation. Donations are not required and they are not requested.
