I found a brand new community SMP that just opened last weekend and it feels like a clean start with real people.
It is whitelist only and 18+ only. There are no ranks and no donor perks. There is no server shop and the economy is diamond based so players drive it.
There are no teleport shortcuts so traveling matters. Changes are based on community feedback and polls.
It has deeper progression with ValhallaMMO and ValhallaTrinkets. The world uses Terralith generation. Players can run shops with Shopkeepers and rent market space with AdvancedRegionMarket.

Posalon is a lore building Minecraft project where what you do ends up becoming part of the servers history. It feels like a big community story that keeps growing because players keep adding to it.
You can get involved in nation politics and even try to start your own nation. You can design planes tanks and ships with movecraft then test them in real battles. If fighting is not your thing you can use BreweryX and be a bartender or you can spread a new religion and see if people follow it.
