This server feels like a tiny world that is about to explode. The map is a 3500 by 3500 square so there is not much room to hide and you will run into other players a lot.
Everyone is trying to survive and build their own kingdom. Some people try to be peaceful neighbors and others turn into war criminals and economic powerhouses. You never really know if the person next door is going to trade with you or stab you in the back.
You can watch players create safe places for people who are on the run and also see huge fights for resources like oil and other stuff that keeps their machines running. People are always trying to get better technology and then defend it at all costs.
The server is still new and the owners keep changing and improving the gameplay. They also listen to suggestions and are willing to add popular ideas. Spots to claim are limited so people rush to grab land and power.

MineScape is a Minecraft server that feels like an old school style MMORPG. The whole idea is to recreate Old School RuneScape inside Minecraft so it is all about training skills doing quests and exploring.
When you join you start in a big hand made world that looks really detailed. There are custom NPCs and custom mobs that you can talk to and fight. You can go on custom quests and follow stories instead of just wandering around.
There are a bunch of skills to level like attack ranged magic woodcutting mining smithing crafting and more. You can grind skills for hours and watch your levels go up and try to become one of the best on the leaderboards.
You can also collect clue scrolls and solve them for rewards. There are pets cosmetics and titles so you can show off your progress and style. There are daily rewards so logging in often actually feels worth it.

Rosedalean SMP is a multiplayer server that feels like a mix of casual and hardcore players all living in the same world. Some people grind a lot and some just chill so it has a spot for almost everyone.
The server uses add ons so you get an enhanced vanilla style without needing to download mods yourself. There is an application system to keep trolls out so the world can stay safe and not get ruined all the time.
They run community events and there are factions you can join or make your own. Players can get involved in a lot of group stuff instead of playing alone all the time.

This is a semi anarchy style server with a really weird death system. When you die in the overworld you get sent to a different dimension but you keep your items. If you die in that other dimension you lose everything. So you have to be careful or you are totally wiped.
There are three big nations you can join or you can just play alone. Interdimensional Raiders is the one for bounty hunters. They focus on hunting other players in the overworld to gain power and items. Sunburst is more for PvE players and they cannot be targeted by the raiders and just want to explore and learn about other dimensions. Xing is based on Fullmetal Alchemist and if you start there you begin with custom abilities and you have to build your whole progress around those abilities.
Right now the server is a work in progress. The owner keeps it online as much as possible and is still testing stuff so some features do not work yet but they are being worked on a lot. Custom items and mobs are planned and are coming pretty soon.
There is a 20 player limit at the moment so it feels like a small community. The only things that can get you banned are if you purposely try to lag or crash the server. Pretty much everything else is allowed because it is semi anarchy.

Wayfinder SMP is a small whitelisted server that feels really calm and cozy. It is made for players who like exploring and building at their own speed and do not want to rush or sweat.
The server is semi vanilla and kind of has that HermitCraft style with people making player run shops in a shopping district at spawn. It feels like a little town where everyone can trade and show off their builds.
There is custom world generation so the terrain looks nicer than normal. There are also some simple quality of life tweaks like Timber for easier tree chopping multiplayer sleep cauldron concrete AFK display and mob and player heads. Creepers and ghasts will not blow up the landscape so builds stay safe.
The server is PVE and focused on exploration and creativity. It is for players who like discovering new places and building things that feel lived in. The community is meant to be relaxed and respectful with no pressure to grind and no weird gimmicks. Just a good world with good people and lots of space to find your own path.
Wayfinder is based in the UK and is for players who are 18 or older. It runs on Java but Bedrock players will also be able to join which makes it easier for friends on different platforms to play together.

This server is called Overtake Network and it is made for people who miss the old factions style from around 2014 to 2016. It is not about crazy modern stuff or pay to win menus. It is about raiding other bases doing real PvP and grinding your gear the normal way.
The combat is set up like native 1.8 so there are no hit cooldowns. You can spam click and block hit and use rods just like old school PvP. They really care about hit registration so fights feel smooth. You can join with newer versions like 1.12 but the combat still behaves like 1.8.
The main game mode is classic factions where you claim land build cannons and raid enemies. There is McMMO so you can level skills and get small advantages by grinding. The economy is balanced and built around farms mob grinders and a player auction house so players trade with each other.
There are vote rewards that actually give useful keys and items so voting feels worth it. They also say they have a strict anti cheat and they actively ban cheaters so fights are more fair.
The community is international with strong roots in EU and Bulgaria but the server uses English first and welcomes everyone. The map is brand new right now so you can start early and try to become one of the top factions before really huge groups join.
