    Waystone is a small semi vanilla Java SMP for people who want a long term world and a chill Hermitcraft style vibe. Players actually build talk and stick around so it feels more like friends than random names.

    It keeps things fair with no pay to win and no constant resets. There is land claiming so your builds stay safe without feeling annoying.

    Deaths are less stressful because your items get saved in a gravestone for a few hours. There is also a simple skill system where you level up by playing and get small perks over time.

    When you go raiding with friends everyone gets their own loot so nobody argues. Proximity voice chat is optional and there is party chat too.

    The world has seasons and holiday events plus a live map so you can watch towns and builds grow. It is Java 1.21.11 and it is whitelist only and UK hosted.

    Two Teams Battle for Regions SMP

    RegionsSMP is a seasonal survival server where everyone gets split into two teams. The teams are called the Melon Marauders and the Pumpkin Patriots. The main goal is to fight for ownership of regions across the world.

    Over about a month players can claim regions on the map and battle over them. When a team claims a region it gets protected from the other team unless the enemy owns an adjacent region. That makes the map feel like a big warzone where land keeps changing hands.

    The server is a passion project and the owner wants to learn from each season to improve the next one. Expect changes and new stuff over time like adjustments and custom items. Even though it is war and PvP focused they also want things for different play styles and some custom builds can get brought into new wars as protected builds.

    Atoq SMP is a chill vanilla plus server that started as a friend group and grew into an established community. People hang out a lot and there are active voice chats so it feels social even when you are just mining.

    The server runs long seasons and does events and polls so players get a say in what happens. Getting in uses a form application so it stays more controlled and friendly.

    It is Java 1.21.1 and it uses mods like in game voice chat and a paint mod. It also has custom origins so you can pick different powers and play styles.

    There is a market system and a mayor system for some light roleplay and town stuff. Heart trading is allowed but only if both people agree. It is also LGBT and neurodivergent friendly and there are channels for content promotion.

    MinedHype SMP Long Term Vanilla Survival

    I found MinedHype SMP and it is a friendly long term public survival server that has been around for years with the same owner. It is on Minecraft 1.21.11 and it aims for a mostly vanilla kind of survival.

    There is no whitelist and it says no pay to win. There is also no money economy plugin so shops are run by players with item trades instead.

    Grief protection is done with claims and grief is allowed if a spot is not claimed. They also use CoreProtect to help with problems.

    The Overworld and Nether are meant to never reset. There is no set world border or even a set spawn and players spawn randomly within the first 40k blocks. You can use /rtp to get a random spot and then set a /home.

    It supports Bedrock and Java cross play and it has a web based live map. There are free events with prizes and a public shopping district you can teleport to with /tpshop.

    VanillaEvolved is a vanilla Minecraft SMP that has been around since 2013. It is meant to feel like normal Minecraft with not many unnecessary things added.

    The server is semi anarchy so you get a lot of freedom. You can do whatever you want as long as no rules are broken and the community is friendly mostly.

    It also has Java and Bedrock cross play. If you like goals there is a unique in game rank you can earn by completing every advancement.
