PurpleSMP Relaxed Survival With Optional PvP
PurpleSMP is a small SMP that feels relaxed and safe so you can build and play without stressing about griefers or cheaters.
It runs the latest version listed as 1.21.11 and it has both PvE and PvP. PvP is off by default and you can toggle it on if you just want to mess around with friends.
The server uses land claims so your builds stay protected. Every block placed or broken is logged and staff can check it. When you join leave or die your inventory gets backed up and staff can restore it if you lost stuff because someone broke the rules.
There is mcMMO for skill leveling and grinding. There is a player economy with no server shops and no currency so players decide what things are worth. You also get personal vault storage and there is a live map you can view like a web map.

I found a small server called 30Timers and it feels like survival but way more chaotic. Every 30 seconds you get a random item. Sometimes it is trash and sometimes it is super rare so you never know what is coming next.
They also built custom systems around it. There is a custom mineral called Chronium with time themed powers. A full armor set can randomly dodge hits and the sword can sometimes hit twice so PvP gets really unpredictable.
There are no land claims here so bases can be raided and griefed if you do not defend them. To help with that you can buy turrets in the shop. The shop offers change every in game day.

StickCraft is a small modded survival server for 1.21.1 and it feels like Minecraft but with more depth. It is not a huge messy pack and it aims for a vanilla plus vibe that stays fun for a long time.
The main thing people notice is the PM Weather mod. Storms can get intense and the world feels more alive instead of calm all the time.
It also runs Create for big machines and automation. There is Pam’s HarvestCraft for farming and cooking. Biomes O’ Plenty makes exploring look way better.
Progression keeps going too with Deeper and Darker plus a revamped End so it does not just end after the dragon.
For quality of life it has stuff like a minimap recipe help gravestones and backpacks. There is also proximity voice chat which makes playing with others way more fun. Total Vanilla is a simple survival server that sticks to the real vanilla feel. There are no shortcuts and it is all about playing the game straight.
I noticed there is no tpa and no home commands so you actually have to travel and plan stuff. The world border is set to 300k so there is a lot to explore and build in.

Konohaven SMP is a Java semi vanilla server and Season 5 just started. The big change is that players get way more control this time. Stuff like spawn plans shopping areas and big travel routes are meant to be decided by the community. If you care about how things run you can start a group or work solo and actually shape the world.
The server is on Hard difficulty and it has single player sleep. There is also a live map so you can see what is going on.
For world stuff there is no set world border. Chunks generate out to 1500 at the start to help with early lag then you can explore as much as you want. The seed will be public. World generation is being tweaked to add new features but it is still aimed at keeping the vanilla feel.
