This is a semi vanilla survival smp where the whole thing is built around community economy and chill gameplay. It feels like one of those servers you can log into every day and always find something to do.
The server uses diamonds as the main currency so you actually want to go mining and then trade your diamonds in player shops. There is a shop gui too so it is easy to browse and buy stuff. It looks like the economy is meant to be fully run by players.
You can claim land with a golden shovel to protect your builds so griefing is not allowed. The server is focused on pve and it also has no keep inventory so dying still matters. They also keep the main world cleaner by using separate resource worlds for gathering.
There is a live world map you can view in your browser which is cool for planning bases and exploring. You can earn ranks and vote rewards just by playing so you still progress over time without it being pay to win.
The community is described as friendly with weekly events so it sounds like people actually play together instead of just grinding alone. The server supports both Java and Bedrock with crossplay so pretty much any platform can join.

BluMoon SMP is a simple vanilla server running 1.21.11 with no mods at all. It feels like regular Minecraft but on a shared world.
The server uses a whitelist so people have to apply before they join. That keeps things a lot more chill and safe.
From what I can see there is tons of open space to build and explore. It does not feel crowded and there is room to start your own base.
The vibe here is super relaxed. People just want to hang out play survival and take it easy without pressure or drama.

Outcrafted SMP is starting up season 3 and it is a semi vanilla survival world. The server is trying to build a fresh season with around 50 to 100 active players so it feels busy but not crazy.
They use Simple Voice Chat so people can talk while they play which makes it feel more like a real hangout. There are also Dungeons and Taverns that add custom structures so exploring the world is more exciting than normal. This season also has some custom maces so combat has a fun little twist.
The server is 16 plus only so it is aimed at older players. There is no application form to bother with. You just join and follow the rules and you should be fine. It feels like a chill place for people who want a semi vanilla SMP with voice chat and some extra adventure.

Foxden is a small Java survival server that feels really chill and friendly. It is mostly semi vanilla so it still looks and plays like normal Minecraft but there are some plugins and datapacks that make it a little more fun.
The server just started a new map so everyone is still building up and exploring. It is a good time to join if you like starting fresh with other people. The owner is active and hangs out with the community a lot so it does not feel like an empty server.
The rules are there to keep things calm. No griefing or stealing and do not touch other peoples farms or villagers unless they say it is ok. PvP is only allowed if both players agree or during a minigame. They also do not allow slurs racism or abuse and they try to avoid politics and NSFW topics. People on the server do swear sometimes so it is not really meant for little kids.
If you are inactive for a really long time the moderators might take over your stuff unless you talk to them first. When rules are broken the staff decide if it is a warning or a ban but they try to be reasonable. Pranks are fine as long as they do not destroy someone’s build.
To join you have to get on their discord first read the rules and put your Minecraft name for the whitelist.

Foggy Willows is a server that really feels like old school Minecraft. It runs on the normal minecraft server jar with no plugins and no datapacks so everything plays exactly like vanilla.
There is no big confusing spawn and no long story you have to read. You just join and start surviving. Players are expected to deal with their own problems so the staff does not babysit every little thing.
You can play how you want. Build what you want. Technical players who like redstone and farms are welcome too.
The server stays on the latest stable vanilla jar. It is self hosted on a machine that is made just to run it. There are no donations and there is no world border.
There is no teleport and no sethome. It is hard mode survival on Java and it feels really tough but also fair.
Most people probably want semi vanilla servers but if you want real vanilla with all the weird parts and all the challenge this server is made for that.
