PurpleSMP is a small PVE survival server that tries to feel simple but still refined. It is meant to be a relaxing place to build on the latest versions without dealing with jerks.
There is mcMMO so leveling skills makes grinding feel better. The economy is player made with no server shops and no currency so people decide what stuff is worth.
You can claim land to protect your builds and there are player vaults so you get extra storage. PvP is off by default but you can toggle it if you want to mess around with friends.
The staff takes safety seriously. Blocks placed and broken are logged and your inventory gets backed up on join leave and death so staff can help restore stuff if rules were broken. There is also a strong anti cheat that alerts staff right away.
There is no world border so you can go find untouched land and build big. The server first started as friends only in October 2025 and opened to the public on December 25 2025.

This is FINAL SMP and it is a mostly no rules survival server with a pure vanilla feel.
It uses Simple Voice Chat so people can actually talk in game and the whole point is real player interaction.
It opens on 2/21/26 and they want a bunch of new members to show up at launch with friends. You can team up make alliances cause chaos and just try to survive.
It is not pay to win and it has stuff running like Core Protect anti xray anti cheat and a pvp log manager plus a Discord bridge.

I found a Survival+ SMP that is built around progression PvP and economy but it still feels like survival.
It has a full custom enchant system with rarity tiers. The enchants can do more than damage like slowness poison weakness wither knockback lifesteal and even temporary enchant disabling. Fights are more about your build and counterplay.
There are dungeons and bosses too. You enter through portals at /dungeons then clear rooms and fight Elites for strong loot and materials. Minions can drop rare loot keys and crafting materials. You can use Boss Totems in the right boss rooms to spawn bosses. There are both PvE and PvP dungeons.
The economy is based on playing. You can sell items and level up sell multipliers by type. Crops ores mob drops and spawners all give different ways to make money. You can buy basic materials in /shop or trade with players in /ah.
PvP is part of the world. Teams exist and raiding is allowed. Insiding and scamming items are allowed too. Cheats and unfair advantages are blocked so it stays about skill gear and builds.

This is a Java SMP on 1.21.11 and it is in Season 3. The season is about two months in so the early scramble part is basically done and the world feels stable.
There is a safe Mushroom Island hub and there is real infrastructure already. There is also a shopping district with a diamond based economy so trading and stores are a big thing.
Proximity voice chat is required and it is a big part of the server vibe. The community is 18+ and more mature and chill and people like building together.
You can also use Bluemap to watch the world change. There are quality of life extras like invisible item frames custom armor stands and sitting or riding.

I found Anarchy Network and it is a semi anarchy survival server that tries to feel like vanilla. It started on October 11th 2024 and it is hosted in New York City.
The server is online all the time and it lets you join on Java versions from 1.7.2 up to 1.21.11. They recommend 1.21.10 so stuff works better.
The world is huge with a 2 million block border and it says there are no map resets. There is no pay to win and there is no teleporting. PvP and griefing are fully allowed.
The only command they allow is spawn so players far away can get back to civilization. Nether roof is allowed. Phantoms are removed and only half the players are needed to skip the night.
