I found this Minecraft host called KingsDomain and it is actually free and not trash. The default plan gives 3 GB RAM 25 GB SSD and 200 percent CPU which is kind of crazy for a free plan.
The cool part is the server stays online all the time. There are no forced ads no shutdown timer and no weird queue stuff. So it feels like a real 24 7 server and not some fake free thing.
They also have a coin system where you can upgrade your server without using real money. You just grab coins from links that refresh every hour and then you can get more RAM CPU or storage.

Back2Basics SMP is a semi vanilla survival server that feels really chill and simple. It started in December 2023 and now has new ownership. The whole idea is to keep Minecraft feeling pure but add a few tweaks that make survival more fun and fair.
There is a player driven economy where you can buy sell and trade using in game currency. You can earn stuff by exploring doing events or just being smart with trading. There is also a cosmetic store but the cool part is you can earn the perks and rewards in game and you do not need your wallet.
The server uses custom lightweight plugins to keep things smooth. Keep inventory is on so if you die to a mob or another player you keep your gear. There is random teleport with rtp so you can jump to a fresh spot and start a new base. This server is made for people who want a long term world with no grief and no resets. The goal is to keep the world going for many years so you can work on big projects and also take breaks without losing your stuff.
The main survival world is almost pure vanilla but it has claims a map player markets clans fishing contests and some teleport features. This place uses a plugin called CelestialDash that gives you a cool movement ability during storms. When thunderstorms happen the world can spawn special items called Celestial Tears. If you hold one in your main hand you can use a fast dash move.
The dash shoots you forward really quick so it feels great for exploring big areas or escaping fights. It also works well for parkour maps and for servers that want more RPG style movement. There is even an option for a double dash with no fall damage if the server owner turns it on.
Almost everything can be customized by the admin like how strong the dash is how high you go how long the cooldown is and what particles and sounds it uses. Mubian World is a vanilla style SMP with a worldborder that is 5000 by 5000 so everyone stays pretty close together. It feels like a small world where you can actually meet other players and see what they build.

This is a small community server that feels like a giant friend group. It is a Java whitelist server on Minecraft 1.21.10 and it usually has a handful of players on every day with a bigger group that comes back a lot.

I found this server that is all about real hardcore survival. It is a true vanilla world with super simple rules. No cheats at all and if you die your run is completely over.
There is no pay to win and no server resets. You also cannot use alts so every player only gets one life. Griefing is allowed and so is pvp so you can not trust anyone fully.
The server has already had more than 2500 players join in less than a month. Everyone is fighting to stay alive as long as possible. It feels really intense because every move actually matters.
