So this server is called Broomstix and it is an SMP that also lets you be creative with builds. It runs the newest version and it works for both Java and Bedrock so you can play with friends even if they are on different devices.
The difficulty is set to hard so mobs actually hurt and you kind of have to try if you want to survive. There are custom enchantments that make gear feel special and you can even put a lead on mobs so they teleport with you which is super helpful.
On Sundays you get free fly in the overworld so it is way easier to explore and build cool stuff. The server has land claiming using ProtectionStones so people cannot just grief your base. There is no grief allowed and the main PvP arena has keep inventory so you can fight without losing everything.
There is a bartering style economy with server shops and a public market plus some tutorial warps to help new players figure stuff out. You can use random teleport in the overworld to find new spots and there are commands like homes sethome tpa and private messaging to move around and talk quickly.
The staff seem really responsive and they even offer homework help on their Discord which is kind of funny but also nice if you are stuck on something. The server also links Minecraft chat with Discord so you can still hang out with the community even when you are not in game.

This server is all about geopolitics in Minecraft and it looks really cool. The whole idea is that players make nations and companies and try to control the world.
The server is modded with stuff like villager workers and recruits so you can build up your nation. It also has Mine Colonies so you can make big towns and run them like a real colony. There are small ships too so it feels like you can have real trade or navy fights.
There are over 50 mods so it is not just basic survival. You are supposed to get your friends and form a nation together. Then you make alliances or rivalries with other nations and try to dominate the world.

This is a Java lifesteal chaos SMP where almost everything is allowed and nobody is really safe.
Players can raid and grief bases and betray each other or team up in sketchy temporary alliances. You are told to trust no one and it really feels like that kind of server.
PvP is on basically everywhere so fights can happen at any time and there is a lot of drama.
There are still some rules though. No cheats no unfair mods or resource packs and no duping is allowed. It is meant to be crazy but still fair.

This is a survival server that feels kind of like Hermitcraft. It is mostly vanilla but with some plugins and datapacks to make things smoother. The world is new because they reset the map so everyone can start fresh.
The spawn is really cool. It is a train in the middle of an ocean so the first thing you see is this weird but awesome build. It already feels like players here like to do big creative projects together.
The community is chill and pretty close. Most players are adults and you need to be at least 15 to join. People here are very helpful and the staff mostly grew out of normal players who just stayed active and nice.
Rules are simple. No bullying or rude behavior and no bigotry at all. Hacking is not allowed. PVP is allowed but stealing and griefing are not allowed even if a base is not protected. So you can fight but you still have to respect other people builds and items.
I think this server is best if you want a long term place to play survival with a small friendly group and you like that Hermitcraft type of world where people build cool stuff near each other and make memories over time.
