This is a free modded survival server that is running long term and feels pretty active. When I joined it already had a growing community and people actually talk and help each other.
The main world has a big city getting built and it keeps expanding. Players are making shops and running their own economy with trades and deals instead of using mod based money. It feels like players decide how the server market works.
Everyone seems really friendly and they help new players get started on their journey. You can join alone or bring a whole team of friends.
There is also a war idea for the future for people who want to fight and do big battles. If you do not want to take part you can stay safe because claims protect you from death grief and loot stealing so you are not forced into pvp.

I found IronVail and it is a pure vanilla Minecraft server for people who want the real survival feel. There are no teleport commands and no home command. There are also no land claims so you have to pick a spot build it up and protect it yourself.
It is not meant to be an anarchy place. Cheating like flying or x ray is not allowed and they use automatic anti cheat to help stop it. Profanity is strongly discouraged.
It has a 25 percent sleep feature so night can be skipped when only some players sleep. The server is also tuned for players with higher ping so exploring feels smoother.

This server is a 1 to 750 scale Earth with an alternate 1940s vibe where zeppelins never went away and the whole world is the battlefield.
You claim land and build up a nation using Towny. People make alliances then declare war and try to take towns with SiegeWar. There is no arena stuff. fights happen right on the world map for territory.
The cool part is the flying and naval warfare. You can pilot custom zeppelins and warships with Movecraft. Dogfights happen over continents. You can blockade ports and even carpet bomb fortifications.
You can also grind resources and trade to get stronger. There are player shops plus mcMMO for skills. Combat uses custom weapons plus Cannons and Movecraft Combat so wars feel strategic and heavy.

The map is based on Earth and it uses satellite imagery so the mountains rivers and coastlines look like the real thing. Every continent feels familiar and it makes exploring and claiming land feel more intense.
Players can build cities castles and big empires then make allies or enemies. Wars happen and territory can change hands so diplomacy actually matters. You can also set up economies and trade routes and try to become powerful without fighting all the time.
