Mech Rehabilitated Modded SMP Reboot
I found a modded SMP called Mech Rehabilitated and it feels like a small friendly place that stays active. It is the kind of server you can hop on after work or classes and just relax or go totally wild.
The modpack has over 300 mods so there is a lot to do. People can explore and loot huge structures then go fight bosses and chase big power. If you are more of a farmer type there are lots of recipes and cooking stuff too.
Some of the mods mentioned are Create Alexs Mobs and Caves Terramity Farmers Delight with lots of addons Cataclysm Etched and Littlepictureframes for community movie nights.

CoreMC is a long running survival world that is trying to stay as close to real Minecraft as possible. It uses the stock vanilla jar and the world started in 1.18. The world does not reset so it is more about long term projects.
It is a whitelist style server and anyone can join no matter your skill. The server is not very active so it fits best if you like late game building and making your own goals.
Rules are simple and focused on respect. No pvp griefing or stealing. Hacking like xray or fly is not allowed. Item dupe glitches are not allowed. Client side mods like shaders and schematic mods are allowed and you can ask if you are unsure.

Cosmix World is a political survival server on Minecraft 1.21.1 with a full Europe map. The whole point is real player conflict and taking control. There is no scripted RP and there are no admin made nations.
Players make everything. You can start a nation or city or empire and try to grow it. People can do diplomacy or alliances or straight up betrayal. Wars happen for land and resources and dominance and the results actually matter.
You can build capitals and borders and big fortifications. Trade routes and the economy are controlled by players too. Vanilla plus gameplay is the vibe with no modpacks and no hand holding.
