NerdNu feels like one of those old Minecraft servers you remember from way back where people actually talk and build together. It is mostly vanilla and has a strong focus on community so it is not about crazy plugins and pay to win stuff. It is about surviving and building cool things with other players.
There is a PvE world where players use survival mode and only fight mobs and not each other. People team up to make towns and cities and they do regular events. They run a Friday and Saturday games night with things like spleef thimble and ice boat races. They also do special events like a bow game at an abandoned archery range.
There is also a Creative server that is mostly open world with a mix of natural and custom painted terrain. You can protect your builds and you can use WorldEdit if you want. It runs on Towny and your town needs different resources to keep going. Small towns can survive with simple stuff like iron but bigger towns need more types. Gold matters and oil is a custom drop that only shows up in specific zones.
The economy feels serious because players can make shops and also deal with loans. If you want to start a war you can raise money with a war bond then try to siege rivals and take their land. Waystone is a small semi vanilla Java SMP for people who want a long term world and a chill Hermitcraft style vibe. Players actually build talk and stick around so it feels more like friends than random names.

Deaths are less stressful because your items get saved in a gravestone for a few hours. There is also a simple skill system where you level up by playing and get small perks over time.

RegionsSMP is a seasonal survival server where everyone gets split into two teams. The teams are called the Melon Marauders and the Pumpkin Patriots. The main goal is to fight for ownership of regions across the world.
Over about a month players can claim regions on the map and battle over them. When a team claims a region it gets protected from the other team unless the enemy owns an adjacent region. That makes the map feel like a big warzone where land keeps changing hands.
The server is a passion project and the owner wants to learn from each season to improve the next one. Expect changes and new stuff over time like adjustments and custom items.
