Near Vanilla is a semi vanilla SMP that has been running for about eight years and it feels like a really close community. People here like to build explore collect stuff and just hang out together. There are big group projects player competitions and a busy shopping district so it never feels empty.
The server is community driven and players talk a lot on Discord about serious things and silly stuff too. When big changes are coming they listen to what the players think and talk it out first. Suggestions are welcome and the staff team is active so problems and bad behavior get handled fast.
Play styles are pretty open. Some players like to go off on their own and build far away. Others like to work in groups and join community builds. There is a DynMap you can view in your browser so you can see the world and find biomes or check how close you are to other players.
This server is 18 plus only and they expect people to be mature and respectful. There is a zero tolerance policy for hacking glitching or duping and doing that is a permanent ban. Griefing stealing bullying insults discrimination prejudice and toxic behavior are not allowed. Chat is moderated and Mojang chat reporting is turned off because of the plugins.
Right now the server is on Season 7 on hard difficulty and it looks like a good place if you want a long term world and a chill but serious survival experience with other adults.

The New Life SMP is a semi vanilla survival server that is all about playing together and not feeling alone. It runs on version 1.21.10 and lets both Java and Bedrock players join so more people can play in the same world.
The server is built around a tight community where every player matters. No one is treated like they are better than anyone else and everyone starts on an equal playing field. Players trade explore and team up so you always feel like you are part of something bigger.
The world has monthly events and the world border expands over time so there is always new land to discover and new stuff happening. There is a fully player driven economy and custom enchantments that make progression feel fresh but still balanced with armor upgrade templates.

This server is called Dominion Society and it feels like a Hermitcraft style world that is still pretty new. It is meant to be long term and close to pure vanilla and you can tell they care a lot about building and survival.
They run on version 1.21.9 and the server has a big live event for new members where everyone joins together and starts at the same time. There is a community shopping district where players run their own shops and use the world economy instead of random plugins.
The server has stuff like BlueMap so you can see the world from above and it has proximity chat so talking feels more natural. There is no sethome or tpa so exploring and traveling actually matters. They use quality of life datapacks like AFK display durability pings coordinates HUD more mob heads double shulker shells and more so the gameplay is smoother but still feels like Minecraft.
The community is supposed to be friendly and mature and they want people who will actually stick around and join the group. Rules are simple like respect others no griefing or stealing no hacks or exploits and pvp has to be agreed on. They also do not allow lag machines or spammy farms so the server stays playable.
You have to be at least 16 to apply and they want full answers instead of one liners. If you join early you get to help shape the world and be part of the main events with everyone else.

This is a small new survival smp that is trying to be a chill queer friendly place. It is made by two friends and they only want around twenty players total so it feels like a real little community and not a giant random server.
