SmokeyMC is a towny style SMP where people build towns and either live peaceful or go to war. It feels like a mix of chill survival and big town drama.
The server has playtime based ranks and jobs so you level up just by playing and working. There are MCMMO skills too so you get stronger the more you use tools and weapons. There is a player made shop system and an in game balance so towns can have real economies.
The world has custom terrain and there are different worlds for rtp resource gathering and flat building. There is also an online server map so you can see towns and battles from above.
The server runs on Minecraft 1.21.10 and supports both Java and Bedrock so a lot of different players can join. You can use optional Discord voice chat if you like talking while you play.
It feels like a good place if you like long term survival towns wars between nations and monthly events with other players.

This is a modded civilization server called Adornment. The whole idea is that players group up and make their own civilizations. You can play with your friends or join a civilization that is already made.
PvP is allowed and griefing is allowed but only at a moderate level. You can steal stuff from other people and you can go to war with other groups. You can also decide to just build and play more peaceful if you want.
You have to get whitelisted before you can join and you need to download the modpack to play. The server feels like a place where players create their own stories with wars and alliances and random politics.

Konohaven SMP is a chill whitelisted survival server where people actually talk and make friends instead of just speed running the dragon. The server is on hard so you still have to try but it is mostly vanilla and feels like a classic survival world.
Season 4 started in April 2025 and runs on modern Java with Fabric. There is simple voice chat support and a live map plus some quality of life mods. There is no flying and no teleport commands and no paid ranks so players are all on the same level.
The community is the main focus here. People hang out in voice chat do Minecraft events and even karaoke nights. There are holiday events community build projects and challenges with fun rewards like custom hats and special items. There is a player run diamond economy with shops and the staff only step in if things stop being friendly.
Some annoying stuff is turned off like phantoms fire tick and enderman griefing. Single player sleep makes nights go by faster when someone goes to bed. There are also custom item and hat models if you use the light resource pack but it is optional.
You can play together and join group builds or just do your own base and vibe solo. Players come from the US Canada and Europe so there is usually someone online to talk to. If you like community and want a place to relax and make memories this server fits really well.

This server is called Minescape and it feels like someone turned Minecraft into an MMO. When you play here you focus on skills quests and combat instead of just regular survival.
There is a big focus on progression and a player driven economy. Stuff is not super easy on purpose. Combat and leveling are harder than normal Minecraft so it feels more like an MMO that you stick with for a long time instead of a quick game.
You have to use a custom client mod to join. The client adds special UI and mechanics and it helps stop cheating and abuse. The server actually needs it for the custom content so you cannot play without it. The mod is downloaded from their site and a lot of players already use it.
