There are custom legendary weapons and armor that use abilities with cooldowns so it stays more skill focused. KOTH events run multiple times per day and there is a new legendary drop every week.
If you want pure fights there is Duels with fast arena matches competitive kits and ranked ELO progression. There is also a Battle Royale mode where you drop in loot fast and fight until only one player or team wins.
