Konohaven SMP Season 4 is a chill survival server that feels like a small friend group hanging out.
The server runs Java 1.21.8 with Fabric and is mostly vanilla. There is no flying no teleport commands and no paid ranks. It is set to hard difficulty but it still feels cozy because fire tick enderman griefing and phantoms are turned off. There is single player sleep so nights go by fast when someone goes to bed.
There is a diamond based player shop economy where people can make their own stores and set their own prices. The staff only step in if things get toxic. There is a live map and some quality of life mods and you can use the Simple Voice Chat mod if you want but you do not need any mods to join.
The community is the main focus. People hang out in voice chat do Minecraft events karaoke nights holiday events and community build projects. There are custom items and hat models with a lightweight resource pack so some rewards look unique but the pack is optional.
You can play together in groups or just do your own solo thing. Players are mostly from the US Canada and Europe so there is usually someone around to talk to or trade with. The server uses BlazeandCave's Advancements so there are tons of extra goals to chase and ways to show off what you did.

I found a new competitive PvP server that is trying to reinvent Hardcore Factions. The people making it are doing it as a passion project and they used to play servers like Kohi and MineHQ.
There is Hardcore Factions style gameplay and there is also a Practice mode for fighting and an SMP mode too. They are trying to bring back that old HCF community feeling again even if it is kind of dead right now.

The rules are simple and it is mostly just do not grief and use common sense. There is no teleporting and there are no modified loot tables or custom world generation so it feels like basic vanilla.

PurpleSMP is a chill survival server that focuses on PVE and building. It is meant to feel simple but still refined and the biggest extra thing is the mcMMO skills system.
The world is meant for the long run and there is lots of land still untouched. There is no world border so you can wander out and find a fresh spot and start your base.
PvP is off by default and you can toggle it if you just want to mess around with friends. Land claims help protect builds and the server logs blocks too. Staff can also check inventory backups for joins leaves and deaths to help restore stuff if it was lost because someone broke a rule.
The economy is run by players since there are no server shops and no currency. Everyone also gets a personal vault for extra storage and there is a live map you can view in a browser.

I found a server called CrownMC RPG and it feels like a big open world survival MMO. You pick your own path and just start building your character with a bunch of skills you can level up.
You can farm for a chill life or focus on crafting and fishing. If you like money stuff there is an economy with shops and an Auction House where players run the market.
There are custom bosses and dungeons too and you can go raid them for special gear and crate keys. Health scales up as you gain experience so you can get way tougher over time.
The wild twist is the monarchy system. The crown is a real thing and if you find and slay the current King you instantly become the new King. You take their claims and can zone their kingdom. It is optional but it makes the server feel like there is always a power struggle happening.
