Jutenja SMP is a new Java world and they are building a big spawn island right now. This island is the first place everyone will see when they join so they want it to feel really cool and welcoming.

I found a OneBlock server called LegionCraft and it is all about building up from your own island and grinding to get stronger.
There are challenging bosses and when you beat them they can drop keys. You can use those keys for rare loot and there are crates with epic gear and rewards.

PlatonicMC is a cozy survival server that stays PvE only so it feels more relaxed. You can build and explore without worrying about player fights and the community is meant to be friendly.

There is MCMMO skill leveling and graves to help keep your gear safe when you die. You can claim land to protect builds and it is set up to be no griefing.
