This is a really old PvP survival server that has been running since 2011. The world has never been reset so there are years of bases and history everywhere.
It is semi anarchy but with a few clear rules. No hacking at all so no fly mods no xray and no weird exploits. Also no doxxing. Everything else is mostly up to the players.
The server is on hard mode and there are no free kits or vote rewards. You do not get commands like home so you survive or die based on your own skill.
Most of the main players are adults. They can fight pretty well but a lot of them also just like to build explore or hang out in chat. If you are curious you can read the wiki with stories about old bases or you can just join and start playing.

This is a pure vanilla survival world that just started and it is totally fresh. The owner just spawned in and nothing has been built yet so everyone can start at the same time.
The idea is to keep it simple and relaxed. People gather resources make a starter base explore together and slowly build projects as they go. There are no mods no addons and no weird rules. It is just normal survival.
The owner plays most evenings and weekends and wants chill friendly players who are not trying to speed run everything. Any skill level is welcome as long as you are respectful and want to help grow a world from scratch.
This is meant to be a forever world that will be kept long term and people can even get a download later if they want it.

The New Dawn SMP is a Vanilla plus survival server that feels a lot like a Hermit style world. It is built around creativity and big builds and players working together instead of fighting each other.
The server runs on Minecraft 1.21.10 and lets Java and Bedrock players join in the same world. Plugins are kept minimal so the game still feels like normal Minecraft.
People here focus on megabuilds player towns trading and big community projects. The community is friendly and semi mature and really cares about building cool stuff and telling stories together.
Rules are simple. No griefing no stealing and no toxic behavior. Everyone is expected to help build the world instead of trying to ruin it.
Season 1 has a special feature called the King or Queen Debates. Players can join debates to show leadership and creativity. The winner becomes the first monarch of the server. They help design spawn and the shopping district and they also represent players in talks with admins and help guide the lore and direction of the world.
If you like long term Hermitcraft style SMP servers with big builds and a strong community this server feels like a good place to start from day one.

NoobTopia is a semi vanilla SMP that is starting season 2 and it looks really fun.
The server runs on Minecraft 1.21.x so any 1.21 version works. It is cracked and Java so more people can join and play together.
There is no land claim and no home or tpa commands. It feels like a pure vanilla experience where you actually have to walk and explore and pay attention to where your base is. Stuff is not protected by plugins so you really have to trust people or hide your things.
Voice chat is enabled so players can talk while they play. It makes the world feel more alive and teaming up is way easier.
They usually have around 13 to 17 players online so it does not feel empty. Season 2 starts on December 6th at 10am UTC so everyone can hop in fresh at the same time.
If you like simple survival with real risk and no silly extra commands this server is exactly that.

This is a Hermitcraft style survival server that is starting round 3 and it looks really cool. The world is pretty fresh and they are bringing in new players in a big launch event so lots of people start together.
The server is almost pure vanilla and runs on version 1.21.8. It has things like BlueMap so you can see the world from above and proximity voice chat so talking feels natural. There is a player run shopping district and the world is meant to last a long time so you can really build up bases and big projects.
They use some datapacks like AFK display durability pings more mob heads armor stand statues multiplayer sleep coordinates hud and a few others that are mostly quality of life and for looks. TNT duping is allowed so bigger farms and projects are possible.
The rules are simple. Respect other players so no griefing stealing or harassment. No hacks dupes or exploits. Chat should stay mature and friendly. PVP has to be agreed on and people should not build lag machines or crazy spam farms.
The server is whitelisted and you have to apply and be at least 16. They want full answers in applications and they ask you to be honest if you had bans before. You can also mention friends that already play there. The whole thing is focused on a tight knit chill community that likes creativity collaboration and just having fun in survival.
